My brother-in-law and I had last fished striper in Maine a few years and as I asked around it became apparent the best bet for large striper wasn’t in Maine, but 20 miles south in Newburyport as the Merrimack river transitions into the sea. After asking around, the guide we seemed best aligned with was Capt James of Shadowcaster Charters. James specializes in light tackle and long rod fishing and his love of his home waters and it’s fishery is infectious. Our goal was to C&R handsome striper and learn about this magnificent fishery along the way. Check / Check. What a great day. We’ll be back. Give him a shout if your looking to hook-up and treat these magnificent fish w the love they deserve.
