What a day we had out on Oologah Lake! As a veteran crappie fishing guide with Slabbin' Mike's Crappie Fishing and Guide Service, I was thrilled to take John Delaloye out for a half-day adventure targeting those tasty white crappie and feisty bluegill. April is prime time for crappie fishing here at Oologah, as the warming waters have the fish feeding aggressively. We met up at the Spencer Creek Campground launch just after 8 AM, with partly cloudy skies and a chance of storms in the forecast. Not to worry though, the lake conditions were fantastic, and we were ready to take advantage. I rigged John up with the right bait and lures, then we set out to start working some of my proven crappie honey holes. It didn't take long before we were into them, with John quickly landing a nice white crappie on a small jig. The bite stayed steady, and he followed that up with a feisty bluegill that put up one heck of a fight on the light tackle. Though the weather threatened to turn at times, we stayed on the fish, using a mix of jigging, trolling, and light tackle presentations to keep the action going. John was a quick learner, and I could tell he was having a blast reeling in those slabs and panfish. In between bites, we'd swap stories and talk fishing, and I was happy to share some of my best tips and techniques to help him become a more successful angler. If you're looking to experience the fantastic crappie and bluegill fishing that Oologah Lake has to offer, I'd highly recommend booking a trip with Slabbin' Mike's Crappie Fishing and Guide Service. Whether you're a seasoned crappie pro or a complete beginner, I'll make sure you have an unforgettable time on the water, catch some great fish, and leave with a new set of skills to take your angling to the next level. So what are you waiting for? Give us a call and let's get you out on Oologah for an action-packed day of light tackle
Heading out on the water with Justin and his buddy for a day of crappie fishing at Grand Lake was exactly what I needed. April is a prime time to target these tasty panfish, as the warming waters have them fired up and feeding aggressively. We met up at the Wolf Creek boat ramp, got the gear loaded, and wasted no time getting the lines in the water. As soon as we started working the areas I know hold lots of crappie, the action picked up. The guys were dialed in with their jigging and light tackle presentations, picking apart likely looking spots and quickly hooking into some nice Black and White crappie. It was a steady pick, with multiple bites and catches coming throughout the day. The fish were in great shape, putting up solid fights before we slid them into the livewell. By the time we called it a day, we had a great mixed bag of crappie to take home. I cleaned and bagged up the catch, making it easy for Justin and his friend to get their delicious fish home and into the kitchen. That's what I love about these Grand Lake crappie trips—it's a chance to spend a fun, relaxing day on the water, catching some awesome fish, and creating memories that'll last long after the fillets are fried up. If you're looking to experience the best crappie fishing Grand Lake has to offer, be sure to book a trip with Slabbin Mike's Crappie Fishing and Guide Service. Today was another great day out on the water with Carrol here at Oologah Lake. April is a prime time to be fishing for crappie and white bass here, as the warming waters have the fish feeding aggressively. We met up at the Spencer Creek Campground for a 6-Hour Oologah Lake Fishing Guide trip, and the conditions were perfect – clear skies and calm waters made for a comfortable day on the lake. As soon as we got set up, I had Carrol and their buddy jigging and trolling a variety of lures to target the crappie. It didn't take long before the rods started bending and the white crappie started coming over the gunwales. These feisty little fighters put up a great fight on the light tackle, and it was awesome to see the smiles on their faces as they reeled each one in. We stayed mobile, working different areas of the lake to find the active fish, and the bite stayed steady throughout the day. The trip had a great flow to it – the perfect balance of fishing action and casual conversation. Carrol and their buddy were quick learners, picking up on my tips and techniques, and by the end of the day, they were working the water like seasoned pros. We didn't manage to land any true slabs, but we still had a blast reeling in plenty of nice white crappie to round out the cooler.
