Captain Jarrod Fredericks is the owner of South Dakota Guided Fishing. He has been fishing since he was a child and has loved it ever since. His passion for fishing led him to become a professional fisherman, and he now loves to share his love for the water with others.
Capt. Jarrod is currently ranked third in the Angler of the Year tournament on the National Walleye Tour, and has won many local walleye tournaments such as the Lake Area Walleye League.
In addition to spending most of his free time either hunting or fishing, his day job is running Outdoors Weekly magazine and Tournament Guide based out of Minnesota. This not only allows him to do what he loves, but also ensures that he's always updated on, and stocked with the most high-quality fishing gear in the industry.
Captain Jarrod specializes in guiding for JUMBO perch and walleye ice fishing and open water fishing. He enjoys seeing his customers catch fish that are bigger than they've ever seen before, but he also has fun showing them how to catch smaller fish as well. Whether you want to catch a big prize or not, Captain Jarrod will make sure that you have an amazing time fishing in the waters.
He understands that every customer has different goals for their trip out on the lake, so he works hard to ensure that everyone catches as many fish as possible while having a great time doing it!

Hard Shack Ice Fishing Trip in South Dakota

We have Humminbird Helix 7 and Aqua Vu fish-finders, as well as Clam shacks, at our disposal. We will use St. Croix Legend Gold Series rods. Bait and portable shacks are provided. All the holes have been drilled; cleaning of the fish is included.

Booked a multi-day trip so we could get in a guided trip to put us on fish during the day and stayed in their sleeper shacks during the night hoping for some bonus fish. Awesome experience all around, highly recommend. Jarrod knows his stuff and isn't afraid to be source of info and to put in the work for his clients, very accommodating for my kids and I. Sleeper shack was well kept and clean.

We booked 2 nights in the Ice Castle and had a great time. Caught 2 buckets full of Crappie, Perch, Walleye, Northern and some white bass. We will be back. We did not use Jared as our guide but he gave us enough local advise to be successful. Thanks again

This is the 2nd time fishing with South Dakota Fishing Guide. JARROD runs a first class operation, especially if you have kids. I took my 8 and 10 year old on a 2 day ice fishing trip. A major blizard went through 2 days prior ro fishing and we had the first real cold weather but his guides put us on fish - the bite was tough so guides kept scouting and giving us options. His guide was so good with my high energy boys! The owner gave us options the 2nd day and I went with his reccomendation to go to a lake that would be easy for boys but fish would be small - he was up front with me 100% and my boys loved it - they caught plenty of fish. We hit another lake in the afternoon on the 2nd day and owner took boys out in his side by side - and set us up for walleyes - he came back with a snowmoblie and kids had a blast. Kids also did well on walleyes. Owner and his guides made my kids feel so special and taught them how to ice fish. They did not have to go to the lenght they went but South Dakota Guided Fishing is a first class operation. We are booking a spring trip which I have no doubt will be of the sane quality as our first two.
