Important Reminder on Tagged Sheepshead in Great Bay and Barnegat Bay
PLEASE pay attention to the sheepshead that you catch in the vicinity of Great Bay/Barnegat Bay/Absecon. Many have internal acoustic tags implanted in them. You’ll also notice t-bar tags. If you see sutures on the fish PLEASE release the fish. These tags are VERY expensive and we need to gather as much data as possible.

Fluke Bite Steady in the Back Bays
Flounder fishing in Tuckerton is holding strong as the summer season kicks in. Anglers drifting the back bays, grassy flats, and channels are finding consistent action, especially during the incoming tide. Gulp baits in white or chartreuse on bucktails have been the top producers, with live minnows and squid strips also drawing solid hits. Most of the fluke being caught are in the 16-19” range, with a few keepers mixed in—especially near structure and drop-offs. Early mornings and evenings are proving to be the most productive windows as boat traffic increases mid-day. Thanks to Captain Stanley’s accommodating nature, we postponed our evening charter due to high winds. We went out the next morning for a calm, cool charter. Capt Stanley and John took every measure to maximize our chances of getting some keeper flounder. We had some close to keeper size but not luck. Nonetheless, the trio was gorgeous and fun. Definitely would go out again.

Captain Stanley is very knowledgeable on the bay. We did the full "tour" of the bay, stopping to drift in a bunch of locations. It was a windy day and not all the drifts were cooperating but he worked hard to keep us over the fish. Caught a couple different species, no keepers but still a good day on the water. First mate did a great job too.

These guys were great. We had some difficulty finding spots, but they pulled out all the stops to make sure we had a good time and everyone caught their share. They were super attentive and helpful. Great local business that definitely knows the water.
