One for the books today! Summer fishing in Corpus Christi, TX brought us out on the Laguna Madre for some inshore action. The day started off with partly cloudy skies as I met up with Jason for our early morning charter with South Texas Outcast Guide Services. We launched from 13317 S Padre Island Dr, ready to chase some fish in the calm waters. Once the stage was set, we got down to business with a mix of live bait fishing, sight casting, and drift fishing. The Laguna Madre was in fine form, offering up some great spots to work our techniques. We focused on areas known for holding Spotted Weakfish, using our live bait to entice them. The sight casting kept us on our toes, scanning the water for any signs of activity. When the conditions were right, we'd switch to drift fishing, letting the boat do some of the work as we presented our baits. Our efforts paid off when Jason hooked into a nice Spotted Weakfish. After a good fight, we brought it to the boat, measuring in at a solid 14 inches. It was a great catch and definitely the highlight of our four-hour trip. We wrapped up feeling good about the day's fishing, even if we didn't land a boatload. Sometimes it's just about being out on the water and enjoying the experience.
