South Padre Speckled Trout Action - Half Day Bottom Fishing Trip
One for the books today! Walt and their crew joined me this fall for an early morning trip on South Padre Island. Partly cloudy skies with storms possible made for interesting conditions as we headed out. Was a great day to get on the water with South Water Charters. Once the stage was set, we got right into bottom fishing and live bait fishing around the flats. The speckled trout bite was on! We mixed in some casting lures to cover more water and keep things interesting. South Padre Island's inshore waters are perfect for this kind of fishing - the grass flats and drop-offs hold plenty of fish year-round. Had a blast working different techniques and watching the action unfold. Y'all really know how to fish! The trout were hammered down in the shallows and we had some good action throughout the morning. Bottom fishing with live bait was producing steady bites while casting lures helped us locate the more active fish. Reckon we found the right spots because the bite stayed consistent. Wrapped up the trip with great catches and smiles all around! If y'all are fixin' to experience some quality inshore fishing, come fish with us at South Padre Island. We had an incredible experience with Capt. Capt. Skylar Wilhite. From the moment we arrived, the Captain was welcoming, organized, and clearly knew the best fishing spots. The captain was professional yet friendly, making sure everyone felt comfortable, whether it was their first time fishing or they were experienced anglers. We caught plenty of fish, including a few big ones that made the trip especially exciting. The boat was clean, well-maintained, and had plenty of shade and seating, which made the day comfortable. The captain also provided all the bait, tackle, and guidance we needed, and they even cleaned and bagged our catch to take home. If you’re looking for a fun, relaxing, and successful fishing trip, I highly recommend booking with South Water Charters /Capt. Skylar Wilhite. Skylar was wonderful! He was super friendly, knew his fishing, super clean nice boat that provided shade, plenty of room and sun if you wanted it. My kids that are teens 16 and 18 had so much fun. We caught are limit of 20 the kids caught 17 of those, lol! He provided drinks and music as well. The location was perfect to meet and easy to find. He even made suggestions on where to take the fish if we wanted to have it cooked for dinner, which we did and they did fantastic. We really enjoyed this family fishing trip. He assisted and did so much to make this enjoyable for all of us. Thank you! We will definitely book again with him.

Skylar was very attentive. He made sure everyone had what they needed. Even when we weren't actively reeling in fish, we were enjoying the beautiful surroundings. Captain Skylar has a great knowledge of the area's past and plans for building the future. A good time, on a very nice boat, with a great fishing guide!
