Our private charter fishing trips on Lake Erie and Lake Ontario offer anglers the chance to target some of the Great Lakes' most sought-after species in waters that consistently produce monster fish. Whether you're after hard-fighting King Salmon, hefty Lake Trout, or massive Walleye, these lakes serve up action that keeps seasoned anglers and newcomers coming back season after season.
What to Expect on the Water
Your fishing adventure kicks off bright and early at 5:45 AM from April 1st through September 1st – prime time when the fish are most active and the bite is hot. We keep our groups small with a maximum of 2 anglers per trip, which means you'll get personalized attention and plenty of room to work your lines without crowding. Captain Kyle knows these waters like the back of his hand, and he'll put you on fish using proven techniques and local knowledge that only comes from years of reading these lakes. Our 6-hour single-day trips give you solid time on the water to dial in your technique and fill the cooler, while our extended 2-day and 3-day packages let you really get into the rhythm of Great Lakes fishing. The longer trips include overnight stays at our fully furnished lodge right on Lake Erie's shore, plus all your meals, so you can focus entirely on fishing without worrying about logistics. Fish processing is available for $175 plus HST – we'll clean and package your catch so it's ready for the freezer or the dinner table.
Trolling Techniques & Gear
Great Lakes fishing is all about covering water and presenting your baits at the right depths where the fish are holding. We primarily use trolling methods with downriggers and planer boards to get our lures down to where the salmon and trout are cruising. Captain Kyle runs top-quality gear including precision fish finders and GPS units to locate schools and structure that hold fish. On Lake Ontario, we'll typically be working depths anywhere from 20 to 200 feet depending on the season and water temperature, using spoons, plugs, and cut bait rigs that have proven effective for King Salmon and Lake Trout. When we're targeting Walleye on Lake Erie, we'll often switch to bottom bouncing techniques with crawler harnesses and crankbaits worked along drop-offs and rocky structures where these fish like to feed. All rods, reels, tackle, and bait are provided – just bring yourself and be ready to learn the finer points of Great Lakes angling from someone who lives and breathes this fishery.

Species You'll Want to Hook
King Salmon are the crown jewel of Great Lakes fishing, and Lake Ontario holds some absolute giants that'll test your tackle and your stamina. These chrome-bright fighters typically run 15 to 25 pounds, though 30-pound-plus fish are landed every season. Kings are most active during spring and fall migrations when they're feeding heavily on alewives and smelt in the upper water column. What makes them so exciting to catch is their explosive runs and aerial displays – when a big King hits your lure, you'll know it instantly. They're also fantastic table fare when caught in cold water, with firm, flaky meat that's perfect for grilling or smoking.
Lake Trout are the native predators of these deep, cold waters, and they grow to impressive sizes in both Lake Ontario and Lake Erie. These fish can live for decades and reach weights over 20 pounds, with their sleek bodies built for life in the depths. Lakers are most active during spring and fall when they move into shallower water, but they can be caught year-round by those willing to fish deep. They're incredibly strong fighters that use their weight and the depth to their advantage, making long, powerful runs toward the bottom. Lake Trout have excellent eating qualities with mild, white meat that many anglers prefer over salmon.
Walleye are the bread and butter of Lake Erie fishing, and this lake produces some of the biggest and most abundant populations in North America. These golden-colored fish typically run 2 to 6 pounds, but 8 to 10-pound fish are caught regularly, especially during the spring and fall feeding periods. What makes Walleye so popular is their predictable behavior – they school up on specific structures and can provide fast action when you find them. They're also widely considered the best eating fish in freshwater, with firm, white, flaky meat that has no fishy taste. The combination of great fishing and great eating keeps anglers coming back to Erie's Walleye waters year after year.
