Miami Beach Offshore Fishing Charters
When you're looking for world-class offshore fishing in Miami Beach, you want a charter that knows where the fish are biting and has the gear to get you hooked up. That's exactly what you'll find with Spearoholic Excursions. Our half-day morning and afternoon trips put you right in the heart of the action, targeting some of the most sought-after pelagic species in South Florida waters. We keep our groups small at just 4 anglers max, so you're not fighting for rod time or missing out on the captain's attention when that big fish hits.
What to Expect on the Water
These aren't your typical inshore trips – we're talking serious offshore fishing where the big boys live. You'll be running out to productive waters where sailfish cruise the current lines, king mackerel patrol the reefs, and mahi mahi hang around floating debris. Our captains know these waters like the back of their hand, and they're constantly moving to stay on the bite. The boat comes equipped with top-shelf tackle, fresh live bait, and all the gear you need to tangle with whatever shows up. Whether you're a seasoned angler or picking up a rod for the first time, our crew will have you rigged up and ready to fish. The half-day format is perfect – long enough to get into some serious action but not so long that you're burnt out by the end.
Trolling Tactics & Live Bait
We run a combination of trolling spreads and live bait fishing depending on what's working best. The trolling spread typically includes a mix of ballyhoo, diving plugs, and feathers designed to attract sailfish, mahi, and kings. When we mark fish on the electronics or find good structure, we'll switch to live bait – nothing beats a frisky goggle-eye or blue runner for getting a big cobia or amberjack fired up. All rods are rigged with circle hooks and appropriate tackle for the target species. The boat carries spinning gear, conventional reels, and everything in between. Our live wells stay full of fresh bait, and we're constantly checking the sonar for bait schools and fish marks. The captains handle all the rigging, net work, and fish handling so you can focus on the fight.
Customer Stories
"Captains Aaron and Michelle were awesome. They work so well as a team. I swear they were in constant motion, sharing and flipping rolls flawlessly when called for. Bt the two of them, I felt like there was always an helping hand available for whatever arose. And Captain Aaron was awesome with my 14yo son Super patient, which I really appreciated." - Arnold
"Went out with a few friends to learn how to spearfish! We booked the Halfday trip and went to some really pretty coral reefs. I speared my first snapper and saw a sea turtle! The captain then made a dish similar to ceviche(I don't remember the dish name) out of my fish for us to enjoy! Will be back out diving with CAPT. Aaron and Michelle the next time I'm in Miami!" - Alex
Species You'll Want to Hook
Atlantic Sailfish are the crown jewel of Miami Beach offshore fishing and the fish that keeps anglers coming back trip after trip. These acrobatic billfish average 6-8 feet long and put on a show like no other fish in the ocean. Peak season runs from December through March when the fish migrate south along the coast, but you can find them year-round in deeper waters. Sailfish are notorious for their spectacular jumps and long runs, often clearing the water multiple times during a fight. They're typically caught trolling with ballyhoo or live bait around current edges and temperature breaks. The fight is pure adrenaline – watching a sail greyhound across the surface with its massive dorsal fin spread is something every angler needs to experience.
King Mackerel are the speed demons of the offshore world and one of the most reliable catches in Miami waters. These torpedo-shaped predators can reach speeds over 40 mph and average 15-30 pounds, with trophy fish pushing 50+ pounds. Kings are active year-round but peak during the cooler months when they move closer to shore. They're aggressive feeders that will crush trolled baits, live sardines, or slow-trolled dead bait. The initial run on a big king will test your drag and your reflexes – they're famous for long, smoking runs that can peel off hundreds of yards of line in seconds. Plus, they're fantastic table fare when prepared fresh.
Mahi Mahi or Common Dolphinfish bring both beauty and excitement to every trip with their brilliant gold and green colors and high-energy fights. These fish are pure muscle and acrobatics, known for their spectacular jumps and never-give-up attitude. Mahi typically range from 10-25 pounds in our waters, though bulls can exceed 40 pounds. They're structure-oriented fish that hang around floating debris, weed lines, and current edges. Peak season runs from spring through fall when water temperatures climb. Mahi are aggressive feeders that will hit both trolled baits and live offerings. They're also considered one of the best eating fish in the ocean with firm, white meat that's perfect for grilling or blackening.
Cobia are the bruisers of the offshore world – powerful, stubborn fish that test both angler and tackle. These bronze-colored fighters average 20-40 pounds and are famous for their bulldogging fights and ability to wrap you around structure. Cobia are curious fish that will often follow the boat or investigate live baits before committing. They're most active during the warmer months when they move into shallower waters to spawn. Sight fishing for cobia is one of the most exciting ways to target them – watching a 40-pound fish slowly cruise up to inspect your bait gets the heart pumping. They respond well to live bait, especially cr
