Non-stop bites all day long! That's how I'd sum up our summer float trip on the North Fork River with Ryan. We set out from Hammond Mill Camp early in the morning for a relaxing half-day adventure with Sunny Daze Guide Service. The weather couldn't have been better - clear skies and perfect conditions for a day on the water near Dora, MO. Once the stage was set, we got down to some serious fishing. We mixed it up with a variety of techniques - bait fishing, float fishing, and jig fishing. The river was generous, offering up a nice mix of smallmouth bass, rock bass, and striped bass. The highlight of the day was a hefty 28'' striper that put up quite a fight. The North Fork River is a gem for this kind of fishing. Its diverse structure and current patterns make it ideal for the techniques we used. Bait fishing worked well in the deeper pools, while float fishing let us cover more water efficiently. Jig fishing really shined when we targeted structure along the banks. We wrapped up the trip with smiles all around, a cooler full of fish, and some great memories made on the water. What a great day out on the water! I had the pleasure of guiding Steven on a relaxing Half-Day Float Trip on the North Fork River down in Dora, MO. June is the perfect time of year for this type of laid-back river fishing, with comfortable weather and active fish. We met up at Hammond Mill Camp, Inc. early in the morning, geared up, and headed out to make the most of the day.Even though we didn't manage to land any big fish, we still had a blast working the river. Steven tried his hand at throwing big swimbaits and did a great job adapting to the different techniques. The water was in excellent shape, with just the right flow and clarity to give us a good chance at tempting the fish. We drifted through some sweet spots, casting to feeding lanes and likely holding areas, but the fish seemed to have other plans today. Still, the time on the river was incredibly relaxing. The partly cloudy skies kept things comfortable, and we got to take in the beautiful Ozark scenery at a leisurely pace. We swapped stories, talked tactics, and just enjoyed being out on the water together. That's what these types of trips are all about—the experience, not just the catches. And I'd say we nailed that perfectly. If you're looking to get out on the North Fork River for a laid-back, fun-filled day of fishing, the Half-Day Float Trip with Sunny Daze Guide Service is the perfect way to do it.
