Snook Slam in Crystal River: A Day on the Flats with Tailwalker Charters

Today was a truly memorable day out on the water with Joseph Giordano, running an Inshore/Nearshore/Flats Fishing trip with Tailwalker Fishing Charters LLC down in the beautiful Crystal River, FL. April is a prime time for inshore and flats fishing in this area, with the warming waters bringing the gamefish up shallow to feed. We met up at the PaddleTail Waterfront Lodge at 7:00 am and got set up to take advantage of the clear conditions throughout the day. As we idled out of the marina, we started scanning the shallows for any signs of life. It didn't take long before we spotted some rolling Common Snook busting baitfish in the distance. We fired up the trolling motor and made a quiet approach, dropping our baits right into the middle of the action. It was an immediate pickup, and Joseph was bending his rod double as the Snook made some powerful runs. After a spirited fight, he had the fish boatside, and we were able to snap a quick photo before carefully releasing it back into the water. The bite remained steady throughout the day, and we employed a variety of techniques - trolling, heavy tackle, light tackle, and even some drift fishing - to locate and entice more of these incredible fish. The Snook kept coming, with an occasional Redfish or Black Drum mixed in to keep things interesting. The clear water and cooperative weather made for an ideal day on the flats, with plenty of shots at cruising fish in the gin-clear shallows. If you're looking to experience some of the best inshore and flats fishing that Florida has to offer, I highly recommend booking an Inshore/Nearshore/Flats Fishing trip with Tailwalker Fishing Charters in Crystal River. Our guides are experts at putting guests on the bite, whether you're after hard-fighting Snook, feisty Redfish, or any of the other incredible species that call these waters home. Give us a call today and let's get you out on the water for an unforgettable day of light tackle fishing excitement!

Sizzling Spots, Savage Reds, and Slashing Snook: A Crystal River Inshore Fishing Adventure

It was a beautiful spring day in Crystal River, Florida, perfect for the Inshore/Nearshore/Flats Fishing trip I had planned with David Kane and his fishing buddy. April is an excellent time to target Spotted Seatrout, Redfish, and Snook in these pristine inshore waters, and the weather couldn't have been better - clear skies, calm winds, and great water visibility. We met up at the PaddleTail Waterfront Lodge right on schedule at 7:30 am and got the boat loaded up with all the gear. As we headed out, I could tell David and his friend were excited to see what the day had in store. We decided to start by working some shoreline structure with a combination of trolling, heavy tackle, and light tackle presentations, hoping to entice some active Seatrout and Snook. It didn't take long before the rods started bending, and we were into a nice school of feisty Spotted Seatrout. The guys did an awesome job playing and landing those fish, filling the cooler with some excellent table fare. Later in the morning, we drifted some flats and saw lots of Redfish tailing in the shallows. I dialed in the drift fishing technique, and before long, David's buddy had a beautiful Redfish on the line. That fish put up an incredible fight, stripping line and making several heart-pounding runs, but we finally got it boat-side for a quick photo before releasing it. Even though we didn't land every fish we hooked, the action was steady, and we all had a blast. If you're looking to experience some of the best inshore and nearshore fishing that Florida's Nature Coast has to offer, I highly recommend booking a trip with Tailwalker Fishing Charters in Crystal River. Whether you're after Seatrout, Redfish, Snook, or any of the other incredible inshore species that call these waters home, we'll work hard to put you on the fish and make sure you have an unforgettable time on the water. Inshore Blitz: Reds, Trout, and Memories Forged on Crystal River

Heading out for a day of inshore fishing with the crew at Crystal River, FL, was the perfect way to kick off our April adventures. The Tailwalker Fishing Charters team had everything dialed in and ready to go when we met up at the PaddleTail Waterfront Lodge. The weather was a bit mixed, with some clouds rolling through, but the forecast called for the rain to clear up later in the day - great news for our planned flats and nearshore excursion. As we motored out into the crystal-clear waters, I could already feel the anticipation building. April is prime time for inshore fishing around these parts, with the warming waters bringing the Redfish and Spotted Seatrout into the shallows. We started off slow, methodically working the grass flats with a mix of light and heavy tackle, slowly coaxing the fish to bite. It didn't take long before Susie set the hook hard, her rod bending as she fought into a nice Redfish. The fish put up a spirited fight, peeling line and making a couple of explosive runs, but Susie kept her cool and soon had it in the boat. The action continued to pick up as we cycled through different techniques - trolling, drifting, and working the edges of the mangroves. The Spotted Seatrout were especially cooperative, smashing our live baits and putting up a serious tussle. In between catching fish, we had a blast swapping stories and taking in the beautiful Crystal River landscape. Even though the weather was a bit unsettled, the fishing remained steady, and we managed to land a nice mixed bag of inshore species. By the time we wrapped up and headed back to the lodge, everyone was grinning ear-to-ear. That's the beauty of a day on the water with Tailwalker Fishing Charters - the combination of great fishing, gorgeous scenery, and an awesome crew makes for an experience you'll be talking about long after you're back on land. If you're looking to get in on some of the best inshore/nearshore action Crystal River, FL has to offer, I can't recommend this Inshore/Nearshore/Flats Fishing trip highly enough. Early April is a great time to target the flats and nearshore waters here, with the warming temperatures bringing the fish into these shallower, more protected areas. We met up at the PaddleTail Waterfront Lodge at 7:30 am and got set up, ready to make the most of the day. As we motored out, the skies started to turn a bit cloudy, but the water looked great—calm, clear, and perfect for sight-fishing along the flats. We started off with some trolling, working our way around the inshore channels and points where we know the Black Drum, Spotted Seatrout, and Redfish like to hold up. It didn't take long before the rods started bending, and we were into some nice fish. The light tackle and heavy tackle setups were both getting work, as we mixed in some drifting and flipping techniques to match the mood of the fish. The variety of species kept us on our toes, and the action stayed steady throughout the trip. If you are looking for a trip of a lifetime or to knock different species of fish off your bucket list look no further Capt Andrew is your guy. His boat and all of his gear are always top of the line. I think he is a little obsessive about it, which only benefits his clients. Andrew is super knowledgeable about all the species of fish he targets which makes him an exceptional guide and Capt. I highly recommend fishing with Capt Andrew.

May 20, 2025

Captain Andrew will put you on the fish! I went out with him on The Oregon Coast many times. He often stayed out longer to get limits of Lings instead of just limiting on Rock Fish and calling it a day. He was also a great steelhead fisherman considering he didn’t grow up in Oregon. Dude is fishy!

May 20, 2025

Captain Andrew is by far one of the fishiest dudes I've ever met!! He always goes above and beyond to make sure you have a great day on the water. couldn't recommend a finer guy to fish with!! A++++
