Vehicle Details
Night bowfishing in Lafitte, Louisiana has been heating up! With the calm summer nights rolling in, visibility is prime and the action has been steady. Local marshes, canals, and backwater flats are lit up and full of targets, giving anglers an exciting shot-after-shot experience. The most common species showing up in the lights right now are gar, sheepshead, flounder, and freshwater drum. Mullet and carp are also cruising in good numbers, especially along grassy banks and muddy flats. Most shots are within 10–15 feet, and the water clarity has been solid thanks to light winds and low tides. This week’s top tides are late evening outgoing, and the bite starts picking up just after sundown. Clear LED rigs are doing great for spotting fish early, and airboats are gliding smoothly across the shallows without much traffic. If you’re looking for nonstop action with a bow in your hands and a cooler full by midnight, now’s the time to book a night in Lafitte.
Fishing conditions in Lafitte, Louisiana have been excellent this April, with warm spring temperatures bringing plenty of action to the marshes, bayous, and inshore waters. Water clarity has been moderate due to recent winds, but fish are still actively feeding—especially in the early morning and evening hours. Redfish are hitting hard around grassy shorelines and shallow flats. Anglers using live shrimp, gold spoons, or soft plastics under popping corks are seeing steady results. Slot-sized reds are common, with a few bulls mixed in around deeper channels. Speckled Trout are showing up in better numbers this week. Look for them near oyster reefs and drop-offs. Using artificial lures like Matrix Shad or live shrimp under a cork has been productive. The bite tends to heat up on a moving tide. Black Drum and Sheepshead are hanging near pilings, docks, and structure. Crabs and cut bait are the go-to choices. These fish are offering solid fights and make for great fillets. Bowfishing has also been strong at night thanks to clear skies and active fish movement. With Captain Jason Toombs running trips in the Lafitte area, anglers are targeting Garfish, Catfish, Carp, and more. Special LED lights make spotting fish easy, even in stained waters. If you're planning a trip, now's a great time to get on the water. The fishing pressure is light, and the bite is steady. Just don’t forget your Louisiana fishing license, bug spray, and your favorite snacks.

If you love bowfishing or are looking to try it out, I highly recommend Capt. Jason. Even though the water conditions did not want to cooperate, that didn't stop Jason and Tom from putting us on fish and giving us our best shots. Not only did I land my first ever catfish, I got to see and learn about the beauty of the Bayou.

I was in Louisiana for work and had a free night before flying home. Jason reached out and had an extra spot on his boat and let me jump on. I got my limit in reds right away and saw hundreds more. I was able to go after a few more species on my bucket list as well . Marcus his deck hand was also great and was awesome to talk with while fishing.
