True Florida Expeditions offers various trips, including Fly Fishing excursions or eco-tourism adventures. Your day with us can be tailored to your preferences—whether that means traveling up one of the rivers in our area (like the Peace and Myakka) or exploring Charlotte Harbor's extensive coastline. Captain Leighton will use the boat trip as an opportunity to point out amazing wildlife and share his knowledge about Florida's history.

Captain Leighton Ingram is a second-generation fisherman who spent 13 years working in a corporate career before pursuing his passion as a full-time captain and commercial fisherman. The Captain currently lives in Punta Gorda, Florida with his four children. When he's not on the water, he enjoys reading and writing—especially cooking for friends and family.

Captain Leighton will take up to two guests aboard his 17' Pathfinder flats boat, or you can use his 16' Scandy White Micro Skitt. Both light and shallow-hulled vessels were built specifically for the skinny waters. Among the fish you'll find in these waters are Sheepshead, Trout, Snook, and Redfish. In season, Tarpon migrates here from oceanic spawning grounds to mate, and Anglers can catch one during this time!

A great day on the water is never complete without that perfect ending and for Captain Leighton, it's about providing you with an experience so unique and intimate that he'll make sure your charter is tailored to suit your every need. After your trip, the Captain will clean and fillet any catch you’d like to take home. All required equipment is supplied by True Florida Expeditions; all you need to do is bring some snacks and forget your worries by getting on board and enjoying yourself!

Description: A half-day trip will take you 4 hours into the Peace River, Myakka River, or Charlotte Harbor to target species ranging from redfish, snook, and trout. Fishing licenses, Fly Fishing Equipment, and bottled drinks are also included. At the end of the trip, the charter can clean and fillet your catch.

EXPECTATIONS

You should expect a typical full-day trip to last six hours.

I can accommodate two guests on my boat. Water will be provided by True Florida Expeditions.

Fly rods and flies

Please be on time for departure to ensure we can make the most of your time on the water.

Items may be harvested as allowed by Florida law (e.g. – shells, feathers, driftwood)

Payment in full is due at the completion of your charter.

REQUIREMENTS

Sunglasses (polarized highly recommended)

OPTIONAL ITEMS TO BRING

Wading boots

Fly rod(s). 7/8 weights for backcountry fishing. 11/12 weights for giant tarpon.

Hat or visor (dark under brim is better for cutting glare off the water)

Rain jacket (highly recommended in the summer months)

Bring rub-in sunscreen only. Spray sunscreen can make the deck of the boat unsafe.

You are welcome to bring canned beverages and food. Alcoholic beverages are fine but are restricted to beer and wine. If at any point Captain Leighton deems their behavior unsafe during the trip he will return to the nearest safe area and no refund will be given. Just use good judgment anytime alcohol is involved.

Bring a camera to capture all your memories.

IN THE EVENT OF

Mechanical issues unfortunately occur. It is rare but does occur; if this happens we will make every effort to reschedule your trip or may refer you to another skilled captain.

Weather is another of those pesky variables that change often, it is Captain Leighton’s priority to keep everyone safe, so please respect his decisions.

DEPOSIT: A deposit is required for all bookings and will be applied at checkout.

BALANCE: The remaining balance is due on the trip date as either Credit or Cash.

GUEST CANCELLATION: In the event that you must cancel your booking, you must do so 14 days prior to your trip date to receive a refund on your deposit. Rescheduling is encouraged and dependent on guide availability.

GUIDE CANCELLATION: In the rare event that your guide must cancel due to inclement weather, health, or equipment issues, you will have the option to reschedule your charter for a later date or receive a refund on your deposit.

TIPPING: Tips to your guide are greatly appreciated for your quality trip.
