Brian Mullaney, Captain at Wanna be Angler

Wanna Be Angler offers private bass fishing charters on the Chesapeake Bay, guided by Captain Brian Mullaney. Based in Maryland and operating on the Upper Chesapeake Bay, this charter is built for anglers who want a personal, relaxed, and educational experience on historic waters. Captain Brian has spent years fishing the Chesapeake and competing in bass tournaments, giving him the local knowledge needed to put guests on fish while explaining how and why each technique works.

The Chesapeake Bay is the largest estuary in the United States, known for its diverse fishery and ever-changing conditions. These waters reward patience, timing, and local insight. Captain Brian loves guiding here because every trip is different, from quiet backwaters to wide-open stretches of the Bay. The scenery, history, and productive bass habitat make each outing more than just a fishing trip.

You will fish aboard a 2024 Skeeter FXR 21’ powered by a Yamaha 250hp, designed for speed, stability, and comfort. Trips are limited to two anglers, allowing for one-on-one instruction and plenty of room to fish comfortably. All gear, fishing licenses, and water are included, so you can focus fully on learning, casting, and enjoying your time on the water.

Wanna Be Angler is known for its friendly atmosphere and excellent hospitality. Captain Brian enjoys teaching and welcomes beginners, families, and kids who want to learn the basics or improve their skills. Expect clear instruction, steady encouragement, and a fun day filled with laughs and lasting memories.

Trips are six hours long and fully private, with options including customized bass fishing trips, kid-friendly outings, scenic sightseeing, and historical cruises along the Chesapeake Bay. Morning trips typically start at 7:00 AM, with afternoon options available. Peak season runs from March through June, when conditions are ideal and bass activity is strong.

Whether you are booking your first guided trip or looking for a private bass charter with a relaxed pace, Wanna Be Angler delivers a memorable Chesapeake Bay experience from start to finish. Trips depart from Sweden Point Marina, with the exact meeting spot confirmed before your trip. Each charter is tailored to your goals, pace, and comfort level, making it easy to enjoy the Bay your way. From learning proper casting to understanding seasonal patterns, guests leave with skills they can use on future trips. It is a great fit for couples, parents, and curious anglers.Book now
