A Little Something Me

I’m Captain Clinton de Armas, the owner, and operator of Get’n Hooked Inshore Adventures, LLC, based in New Orleans, Louisiana. I have almost a decade of experience as a full-time guide and am a Professional Redfish Angler in my area. Growing up in the New Orleans area, I’ve spent most of my life in the water. When you book with my charter, I’ll help and teach you all about light tackle fishing and inshore fishing for redfish.

My dad was the one who got me into fishing. He has been taking me along his angling adventures since I was 5 years old. And 47 years later, I’m still at it and going strong. For me, fishing is not only a passion, a thrill, or a moment in the making, but it’s what I do and what I am.

The name of my fishing charter business was the result of countless hours of careful thinking. I knew I nailed it because it had all you needed to know about my aims if you booked with me. I want people to ‘get hooked' on fishing. And most of our ‘adventures’ will be done ‘inshore.’ I’m also very keen on getting the whole family, especially kids, into fishing. One of our mottos is: ‘Tackle boxes, instead of X-Boxes.’

Recognizing That Fishing Can Be Unpredictable

Some time ago, I watched a television show that mentioned a quote about fishing which has deeply resonated with me to this day. 

Rowan Pope, who was Joe Morton’s character in the political drama Scandal, declared in an episode: ‘People who don't fish think that fishing is lazy or boring, but it is the complete opposite. There are a hundred little decisions to be made and variables to be considered. And you're never quite sure what made the difference. Did I cast too high, too far to the left? Did I reel it in too slow or too fast? Is the lure too shiny or too dull? Do I stay here, or should I go over there? And you know it's not luck, but you do not know by how much… This is why I am fishing because I am never disappointed out here - because I don't expect anything - because anything is possible. I can be hopeful out here, even in failure, because I know if I just go out there, around that tree, it might be different, something might be different - something I do might make a difference'. 

To me, what he said was spoken in so much volume, and it’s something that I can very much relate to. You can surmise what kind of angler I am on how much I agree with what Rowan Pope said. I think it’s important to recognize that fishing can be unpredictable. I put my heart into it, and I try my best every time I go out in the water. I know that I won’t catch something every time. If there are times that I don’t hook anything, at the end of the day, at least I know it wasn’t because of a lack of trying.

What I Like to Catch and My Favorite Spots

Fishing with me means taking you along on an adventure targeting various species in the marshes of the Rigolets, the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway, the Delcroix Canal, and the Biloxi Marsh. Rest assured that I’m very familiar with these waters after years of exploring and catching fish from them. Some of the biggest fish I've had the pleasure of catching are from those areas.

Some species I like to target are redfish, flounder, black drum, sheepshead, and speckled trout. These fish will be what we’ll mainly encounter on our trips. Some of these fish are also great in some of your favorite fish recipes.

At Get’n Hooked Inshore Adventures, we specialize and focus on inshore fishing. Though I personally enjoy all types of angling, if you asked me to choose a particular style and species, it would be redfish fishing. As I’ve said before, ‘the tug is my drug’ - this has led me to become the proud Professional Redfish Angler that I am. 

Why Get Hooked on Fishing With Me?

With 47 years of fishing experience, I feel proud that it got me 12 exciting years of participating in redfish fishing tournaments, of which 6 were done on the professional side. I was ranked 2nd out of 7 for Rookie of the Year in my first year taking part in the Single Man Elite Series. I also ranked 22 out of 40 out of the nation’s top-ranked redfish fishermen in that year. In my second year, I ranked 13th. 

Why did I mention these things? Because I absolutely love taking my past experiences, my knowledge, and my techniques and passing all of that on to all generations that fish with me. I like focusing my trips on you, the willing anglers, whether you’re experienced or novices, who book your trips with me. Because there’s nothing, I enjoy more than watching all anglers of all ages, genders, and races get hooked on fishing! I really do get excited watching and teaching my clients. I don’t consider chartering as a job, but rather, it’s my desire and my passion for the sport or art of fishing. When I see my clients’ smiles and excitement on their faces when they reel in their catch, it reminds me why I do what I do, and it continues to drive me to do what I do.

Get’n Hooked Inshore Adventures, LLC has multiple boats that can accommodate large groups, multi-day trips, and multiple boat trips. One of our most popular charter services is you get on a 23’ Sportsman center console boat that accommodates up to 6 people. Its 250 HP Yamaha engine will take you where you need to be in no time, and the quality onboard navigation will ensure the ride’s safety and efficiency. It is also equipped with a wireless trolling motor and live well.

Anglers who book with us can keep their catches up to certain limits. We also provide all the fishing gear you’ll need, from rods, reels, tackle, fishing hook, fishing line, and fishing lure. If there are some available, we also have access to lodges for rent at the marinas. Make sure your fishing license is in order.
