What is it that makes these trips stand out? We asked our guides to recount the most memorable fishing trip they're ever guided.
Read their answers below!
"My most memorable trip was a half-day wade trip on the Youghiogheny River in Ohiopyle State Park back in 2020. It was mid-morning and a stellar caddis hatch was upon us. It was a mother and her son from Maryland. We caught 12-18 Brown Trout on caddis dry flies from about 9 AM to noon. Every time you have ‘one of those days’ with dry flies, it's memorable. I'll never forget the excitement and gratitude in their voices as we packed up our cars to head home. All the thanks bestowed on me was returned to the river truly providing an exceptional day of fly fishing. After that, I knew guiding was a career I wanted to pursue." -Guide Lucas Smith, What That Vise Do
"My first guided trip was with James Tramell and his father-in-law. As we left Port Mansfield, we did one drift and I landed 3 trout off the bat. James turned and asked if I was going to share my fish. I told him all fish caught on the boat are theirs and that it was very early and we still had plenty of fishing to do. Then my boat broke down around 8:30 AM. I told them not to worry, we would be able to get towed in at noon when other boats head in. Plus we were only 3 miles from Port. I then proceeded to anchor down and from that point on it was fish on! They were able to not only catch their limit of Reds plus
their bonus tag bull red. They have been coming down from San Antonio every year since that." -Captain Augustin Perez Jr. (Cappy), Reel Action Charter Services
“Every trip is special in many ways. From kids catching their first fish to having generations onboard. No two trips are ever the same, and many memories are made.” -Captain Clinton de Armas, Get'n Hooked Inshore Adventures
“I would have to say last October when we landed a 36-inch pike that has gotten off 4 different times over the past couple of years.” -Guide Ryan Hahn, Keep It Reelin Guide Service
