Full Day Family Fishing Trip - Pensacola
Looking for a fishing adventure that works for everyone in the family? Our full-day offshore charter out of Pensacola is designed to get you out where the big fish live, without the stress of wondering if the kids or first-time anglers will have fun. We're talking 8 hours on the Gulf waters targeting some of the most exciting species these waters have to offer – Red Snapper, King Mackerel, Cobia, Atlantic Bonito, and Spadefish. With everything included from rods to bait to licenses, you just need to show up ready to fish.
What to Expect on the Water
This isn't your typical "drop a line and hope" kind of trip. We head out to productive offshore spots where the fish are actually biting, usually 15-25 miles from shore depending on where we're marking bait and structure. The boat holds up to 6 anglers comfortably, so whether you're bringing the whole family or a small group of friends, everyone gets plenty of room to fish without getting tangled up in each other's lines. Our crew knows these Gulf waters like the back of their hand and will put you on fish while teaching proper techniques – from how to work a jig to reading your rod tip for those subtle bottom fish bites. The full-day format gives us time to hit multiple spots and adapt to what's biting best that day, plus you'll get to see some beautiful country out there on the water.
Techniques & Tackle Setup
We fish a variety of methods depending on what we're targeting and what the conditions look like. For the bottom dwellers like Red Snapper and Grouper, we'll be dropping baits on medium-heavy conventional setups with circle hooks – perfect for beginners since the fish basically hook themselves. When we're after Kings and Bonito, we'll switch to trolling with diving plugs and spoons, or pull out the spinning gear for live bait fishing around structure. All rods, reels, terminal tackle, and bait are included, from chicken rigs for snapper to wire leaders for those toothy mackerel. We keep it simple but effective – no need for fancy gear when you know where to put your baits. Ice is provided to keep your catch fresh, and we'll even clean your fish at the dock so you can head home with a cooler full of fillets ready for the dinner table.
Top Catches This Season
Red Snapper are the bread and butter of Pensacola offshore fishing, and for good reason. These chunky bottom dwellers love the structure and ledges we fish, typically running 3-8 pounds with the occasional beast pushing double digits. They bite best during summer months when the season is open, usually on cut bait or squid dropped right to the bottom. What makes them so popular with families is they're aggressive biters and put up a great fight without being too overwhelming for younger anglers.
King Mackerel are the speed demons of our target species, and when they hit a trolled bait, you'll know it immediately. These silver bullets can reach 20-30 pounds in our waters and make blistering runs that'll test your drag and your arms. Peak season runs from spring through fall, with the biggest fish typically showing up in cooler months. They're perfect for anyone wanting to feel some real power on the end of their line.
Cobia are hands-down one of the most exciting fish to catch in the Gulf. These brown sharks (they're not actually sharks) are curious fish that often come right up to the boat, making for some visual fishing that gets everyone pumped up. They average 20-40 pounds and fight like something twice their size. Spring migration brings the best numbers, but we see them throughout the warm months cruising around weed lines and structure.
Atlantic Bonito might be smaller than their King Mackerel cousins, but they make up for it with sheer speed and numbers. When you find a school, it's not uncommon to catch 10-15 in short order. They're perfect for light tackle and absolutely perfect for getting kids hooked on fishing since the action can be non-stop when they're feeding.
Spadefish are the sleepers of the bunch – many people haven't heard of them, but they're excellent table fare and surprisingly strong fighters for their size. These disc-shaped fish hang around structure and oil rigs, typically in the 2-4 pound range. They're great confidence builders for new anglers since they bite readily and don't require heavy tackle to land.
