The boat comfortably handles up to 3 anglers, though we can squeeze in a 4th person if your group needs the extra space. Captain Sean provides all the fishing gear you'll need - rods, reels, bait, and tackle are all covered. Just bring your New York State fishing license and you're ready to fish. The evening bite on Lake Erie is something special, and you'll quickly understand why so many anglers prefer fishing after dark when the walleye and bass get active.
Light Tackle Jigging & Trolling
We focus on light tackle techniques that are both effective and fun to fish. Jigging is a big part of what we do out there, especially when we're working structure and drop-offs where walleye like to hang out. You'll learn how to feel the bottom, work your jig just right, and detect those subtle bites that walleye are famous for. When conditions call for it, we'll also run some trolling patterns to cover water and locate active schools of fish. The light tackle approach means you'll feel every fish that hits, making even smaller walleye and perch a blast to catch. Captain Sean will walk you through the techniques and help you dial in your presentation based on what the fish are telling us that night.

Species You'll Want to Hook
Walleye are the main attraction for night fishing on Lake Erie, and for good reason. These fish become much more active once the sun goes down, moving into shallower water to feed. Lake Erie walleye are known for their size and fighting ability, with fish in the 15-25 inch range being common catches. The best walleye action typically runs from May through September, with peak summer months offering consistent action. What makes walleye so popular with anglers is their excellent table fare - they're widely considered one of the best eating freshwater fish you can catch.
Smallmouth Bass provide some of the most exciting fishing Lake Erie has to offer. These bronze-colored fighters are incredibly aggressive and will test your drag system with their acrobatic jumps and powerful runs. Lake Erie smallmouth average 12-18 inches, but bigger fish over 20 inches are caught regularly. They're most active during the warmer months and can be found around rocky structure and drop-offs. The light tackle we use makes smallmouth bass an absolute riot to catch, and their aggressive nature means they'll often hit lures with authority.
Steelhead Trout bring a different kind of excitement to Lake Erie fishing. These chrome-bright fish are incredibly strong and fast, making long runs that will have your reel screaming. Most steelhead caught in Lake Erie range from 22-28 inches and put up a fight that's hard to match. They're typically most active during cooler periods and can be found throughout the lake system. Steelhead are prized not just for their fighting ability but also for their excellent eating quality and beautiful appearance.
Chinook Salmon, also known as King Salmon, are the heavy hitters of Lake Erie. These powerful fish can reach impressive sizes, with fish over 20 pounds being caught each season. They're known for their incredible strength and stamina, often making multiple long runs before coming to the net. Chinook are most active during specific times of the year and prefer cooler water temperatures. Landing a Lake Erie king salmon is a bucket list experience for many anglers, and the light tackle approach makes the fight even more memorable.
American Yellow Perch might be smaller than the other species we target, but they're incredibly fun to catch and excellent table fare. Lake Erie perch are typically 8-12 inches long and travel in schools, so when you find them, the action can be non-stop. They're active throughout the fishing season and can be caught using a variety of techniques. Yellow perch are perfect for newer anglers to cut their teeth on, and experienced fishermen appreciate their sweet, flaky meat that's perfect for a fish fry.
