Inside the Hunt
Your hunt kicks off at the front gate where you'll meet your guide and load up the Polaris side-by-side with your gear. We'll fuel up with breakfast tacos while planning the morning strategy – our guides scout daily, so they know exactly where to position you for the best shot opportunities. The morning hunt runs until about 10:30, giving you prime time when animals are most active. If you don't connect in the morning, no worries – we'll set you up for an evening hunt from 3:00 until dark. You'll hunt from spacious, well-positioned blinds with feeders nearby, or we can go safari-style from the UTV depending on animal movement and your preferences. When you do make your shot, we handle all the field dressing – gutting, skinning, and quartering your trophy so it's ready for transport. The ranch also features a pavilion with a BBQ pit and fire pit, perfect for lunch or celebrating your successful hunt.

The landscape features classic South Texas brush country with natural clearings, feeders, and well-established game trails. You'll want to bring your bolt-action rifle – we recommend a .300 Win Mag, though any .308 Win or larger caliber will do the job. Just remember, we require proof of accuracy with a gun range receipt and target, and AR-style rifles aren't allowed on this ranch. The guides will position you based on wind direction, animal patterns, and recent scouting reports. These exotics are smart and can be skittish, so patience and precision are key. The terrain allows for both traditional blind hunting and spot-and-stalk opportunities, depending on what the day brings and how the animals are moving.
Target Game Breakdown
The Axis deer, also known as Chital, are the crown jewel of exotic hunting at PW Ranch.
