8hr Full Day Miami Offshore Fishing Charter
When you're ready to get serious about offshore fishing, our 8-hour full day charters out of Miami Beach Haulover are exactly what you need. We're talking about a proper day on the water – enough time to hit multiple spots, try different techniques, and really dial in on what's biting. Captain Alex and the Bear Cut Bandit crew know these waters like the back of their hands, and we'll put you on everything from screaming Mahi runs to steady King Mackerel action. Whether you choose our AM or PM departure, you're getting a full commitment to finding fish and making sure everyone aboard gets their shots.
What to Expect on the Water
This isn't your typical half-day rush job – we've got eight solid hours to work with, which means we can be strategic about our approach. We'll start by checking current conditions and water temps, then head out to our proven spots around Biscayne Bay and beyond the reef line. The beauty of a full day charter is flexibility. If the trolling bite is hot, we'll stay on it. If the bottom fish are stacked up on a particular wreck, we've got time to anchor up and work it properly. You'll fish with up to 5 other anglers, creating that perfect mix of camaraderie and competition that makes offshore trips memorable. We provide all the tackle and know-how – you just need to bring your A-game and maybe some snacks for the long haul.
Techniques That Get Results
Out here, we fish smart and adapt to what the conditions give us. Trolling is our bread and butter for covering water and finding active schools – we'll run a spread of ballyhoo, cedar plugs, and diving lures to target those fast-moving pelagics like Mahi and Wahoo. When we mark fish on the sounder or find floating debris, we'll switch to live bait and drift fishing, which is absolutely deadly for Kings and bigger Mahi. Don't sleep on our bottom fishing game either – when we hit the reef structures and wrecks, we'll drop down with cut bait and jigs to target Snappers and whatever else is hanging around those ledges. Captain Alex is constantly reading the water, adjusting our approach based on current, bait activity, and what other boats are reporting. That's the difference between guides who just drive around and captains who consistently put fish in the box.
Customer Stories
"Captain Alex is a champ. Super friendly guy with a great attitude. He immediately put us on fish and he was just as excited with every catch as we were. Great time on his boat. Will definitely book him and his boat again. 💪🏼" - John
"We are ocean fishing novices and Captain Alex was patient and encouraging with my kids. Within 30 minutes of reaching our first fishing location my son hooked and landed a sail fish. He never stopped trying different tactics and different areas to get everyone in our party of 5 hooked on!!! We all caught fish. Bonita, black tuna, yellow jacks, red and yellow snaper, and a strawberry grouper. Some we were able to keep some we had to throw back. At the end of the trip Captain Alex filleted fish, for us and even made sashimi for us with the black tuna! couldn't have asked for a better day highly recommend Captain Alex at Bearcut Bandit Charters!!!" - Scott
Species You'll Want to Hook
Grey Snapper are the workhorses of our reef fishing game, and they're absolutely perfect for anglers who want consistent action with great table fare. These fish hang around structure year-round, but they really turn on during the warmer months when they move up from deeper water to spawn. You'll find them in the 15-40 pound range typically, and they're smart – they'll test your drag and make you work for every fish. What makes Greys so popular with our guests is their aggressive strike and the fact that they're phenomenal eating. They're also great confidence builders for newer anglers since they bite reliably when you put bait in front of them.
King Mackerel are the speed demons that keep everyone on their toes out here. These fish are built for one thing – going fast and hitting hard. Kings are most active during our cooler months, roughly October through March, when they migrate through South Florida waters in serious numbers. A good King will strip line off your reel like it's going out of style, and anything over 20 pounds is going to give you a legitimate fight. We target them with live bait, slow trolling, and sometimes on the drift when we find schools working bait balls. The reason everyone gets excited about Kings is that explosive initial run – it's pure adrenaline.
Mahi Mahi are hands down the most fun fish swimming in these waters, and they're the reason so many people get hooked on offshore fishing. These fish are curious, colorful, and absolutely relentless once you find a school. Mahi are most abundant during the spring and summer months when the water temps climb, and they love hanging around floating debris, weed lines, and anything that creates shade. A decent Mahi runs 10-25 pounds, but the bulls can push 40-plus and fight like fish twice their size. What sets Mahi apart is their acrobatic ability – they'll jump, tail-walk, and put on a show that has everyone on the boat grabbing their phones. Plus, they school up, so where there's one, there's usually more.
Wahoo are the rockets of the offshore world, and hooking one is like getting struck by lightning. These fish are built for pure speed – they're the fastest fish in the ocean and they'll prove it the second they feel steel. Wahoo are more common during the winter months when the water cools down, and they're typically caught while trolling at higher speeds with wire leaders. A good Wahoo will run 25-60 pounds
