12 Hour Offshore Fishing Charter | Daytona Beach
Looking for a serious day on the water? This 12-hour offshore charter out of Daytona Beach is built for anglers who want to get after the big fish. We're talking about heading way out into the deep blue where the real action happens - trolling for mahi, sailfish, wahoo, and whatever else decides to crash the party. With everything included from tackle to fish cleaning, you just need to show up ready to fish. Captain and crew handle the rest while you focus on what matters: putting fish in the boat.
What to Expect on the Water
This isn't your typical half-day trip - we're talking about a full commitment to finding fish. Twelve hours gives us the time to run out to the productive offshore waters where the pelagics hang out. The boat holds up to six anglers, so you've got plenty of room to spread out and work different lines without getting tangled up. We'll be running and gunning, covering water and looking for signs of life - birds working, temperature breaks, weed lines, whatever's holding fish that day. The crew knows these waters like the back of their hand and they'll put you on the best bite available. Ice is on board to keep your catch fresh, and at the end of the day, we'll clean and bag everything so you can head home with dinner sorted.
Trolling Setup & Technique
We're running a full spread of trolling gear designed to cover water and attract whatever's hungry out there. The boat's rigged with quality rods and reels that can handle everything from screaming mahi runs to bulldogging wahoo. We'll be pulling a mix of baits - ballyhoo, cedar plugs, and various lures that have proven themselves in these waters. The key to offshore trolling is covering different depths and speeds to see what the fish want on any given day. Sometimes they want baits skipping on the surface, other times they're holding deeper and you need to get down to them. The crew will adjust the spread throughout the day based on what we're seeing and what's producing. When something hits, they'll coach you through the fight and make sure you get the most out of every hookup.
Target Species You'll Want to Hook
Blackfin Tuna are some of the most reliable fighters you'll find in these waters. These fish typically run 10-25 pounds and they'll absolutely smoke your drag when they first get hooked. They school up around structure and temperature changes, often mixing with other species which makes for exciting mixed bags. The meat is top-shelf - dark, rich, and perfect for the grill or sushi. Blackfins are around year-round but really turn on during the cooler months when bait schools are thick.
Atlantic Sailfish are the showstoppers of the offshore world. When one of these comes up behind your bait with that massive dorsal fin cutting the water, your heart rate's going through the roof. They average 6-8 feet and put on an aerial display that'll have everyone on the boat scrambling for cameras. Peak season runs from December through April when they're migrating through in good numbers. Most anglers release these beauties, but getting a sail to the boat is a bucket list experience that never gets old.
King Mackerel, or "smoker kings" as the locals call the big ones, are pure adrenaline on the initial run. These fish can stretch over 40 pounds and they'll peel line like it's going out of style. They're ambush predators that love live bait but will absolutely crush a well-presented trolled bait. The trick is getting them to the boat before the sharks figure out what's happening. Kings are excellent eating and they're around most of the year, with peak action typically in the fall and winter months.
Mahi Mahi are probably the most fun fish swimming when it comes to pure entertainment value. These guys are absolutely beautiful with their electric colors, and they fight like crazy - jumping, tail-walking, and generally going nuts. They travel in schools, so when you find one, there are usually more around. Mahi are also fantastic on the table with firm, white meat that's hard to beat. They show up when the water warms up in spring and stick around through fall, often holding under floating debris or weed lines.
Wahoo are the speed demons of the offshore world. These fish can hit 60 mph and when they grab your bait, it's like getting hit by a freight train. They're built for speed with razor-sharp teeth and a torpedo-shaped body that cuts through the water effortlessly. Wahoo typically run 20-40 pounds in these waters and they're absolute dynamite on the dinner plate. They're more of an opportunistic catch, but when conditions are right - usually around the full moon phases - they can really turn on and make for some fast action.
