San Francisco Full Day Fishing Charter
Ready to spend a full eight hours chasing fish in some of California's most productive waters? Captain Anthony Langes knows these San Francisco Bay and coastal waters like the back of his hand, and he's ready to put you on the fish. Whether you're a seasoned angler or picking up a rod for the first time, this full-day charter gives you the best shot at landing trophy catches while soaking up everything the Bay Area waters have to offer. With room for up to six anglers, it's perfect for family trips, buddy adventures, or solo missions when you want to focus purely on fishing.
What to Expect on the Water
Your day starts early – that's when the fish are most active and the bite is hottest. Captain Anthony runs a clean, well-maintained boat that's equipped with everything you need for a successful day of fishing. We're talking quality rods and reels, fresh bait, tackle, and all the electronics to find where the fish are holding. The captain adjusts each trip based on the season and current conditions, so you're always targeting the most active species. Spring through fall, we focus on halibut and striped bass action, while winter months open up opportunities for white sturgeon and those monster stripers that patrol deeper waters. The boat comfortably handles six anglers, giving everyone plenty of room to fight fish without getting tangled up. Fair warning though – bring your own snacks and drinks since meals aren't included, and don't forget that 20% tip for the mate who'll be working hard to keep your lines in the water.
Techniques & Tackle Setup
Depending on what we're targeting, Captain Anthony switches up the approach to maximize your chances. For halibut, we'll be fishing the flats and sandy bottoms with live bait rigs, bouncing anchovies or sardines along the bottom where these flatfish ambush their prey. Striper fishing means covering water with both live bait and lures – sometimes we'll troll, other times we'll anchor up on structure and let the current work our baits. When we're after sturgeon in the winter months, it's all about patience and the right presentation with ghost shrimp or grass shrimp on circle hooks. The captain provides all the gear, but if you've got favorite rods or lucky lures, feel free to bring them along. Shark trips get really exciting with heavier tackle and chunk baits – these fish test your drag system and your arms. The mate stays busy keeping everyone's lines straight, netting fish, and making sure you're rigged up properly for whatever species we're targeting.

Species You'll Want to Hook
California halibut are the bread and butter of Bay Area fishing from spring through fall. These flatfish can range from legal 22-inchers up to barn doors pushing 40 pounds or more. They're ambush predators that bury themselves in sandy bottoms, waiting for baitfish to swim overhead. What makes halibut so exciting is the fight – they're strong, stubborn fish that use their flat profile to their advantage, shaking their heads and trying to stay glued to the bottom. Plus, they're absolutely delicious table fare. Peak season runs from April through October when they move into shallower waters to feed and spawn.
Striped bass are the crown jewel of San Francisco Bay fishing, and for good reason. These silver-sided battlers can range from schoolie-sized fish perfect for the dinner table up to trophy specimens over 40 inches long. Spring and fall provide the best action as stripers follow bait migrations, but winter fishing produces the true giants when big females stage for spawning. What anglers love about stripers is their aggressive strikes and bulldogging fights – they'll make screaming runs and test your skills. They're also smart fish that require different presentations depending on conditions, keeping things interesting throughout the day.
White sturgeon fishing is a winter specialty that puts you in contact with true prehistoric monsters. These ancient fish can live over 100 years and grow to massive sizes – we're talking fish that can weigh 100 pounds or more. They're bottom feeders with sensitive barbels that help them locate food in murky water. The exciting part about sturgeon fishing is never knowing what size fish will pick up your bait. You might hook a 3-footer or find yourself connected to a fish that's been swimming these waters since before your grandparents were born. The fights are epic, long battles that test both angler and equipment.
Shark fishing brings out the adrenaline junkie in every angler. Several species patrol these waters including leopard sharks, sevengill sharks, and occasionally larger species. These predators are incredibly strong with stamina that can wear out even experienced anglers. Shark trips usually involve chumming to draw them in, then presenting baits on wire leaders. The excitement builds as you watch your rod tip twitch, knowing something with serious teeth is investigating your offering. When they take off, sharks make blistering runs that will test your drag settings and leave your arms burning.
