Port Aransas Private Offshore Fishing Charter
When you're ready to get serious about offshore fishing, Port Aransas delivers some of the Gulf's best action. Hot Spot Fishing Charters runs private trips that put you on the fish, whether you're chasing kings, mahi, or whatever's biting that day. With three different trip lengths to choose from - 8, 10, or 12 hours - you can pick the adventure that fits your crew. We're talking about real offshore fishing here, not some near-shore tour. You'll hit multiple spots, cover serious water, and have the boat all to yourself with up to 6 anglers.
What to Expect on the Water
Your day starts early because the best fishing happens when most folks are still sleeping. Captain Art and his crew know these waters like the back of their hand, and they're not just going to take you to the first spot they see on the fish finder. These guys work multiple locations throughout the day, following the bait and reading the conditions to put you where the action is. The 8-hour Offshore Reel Deal gets you solid fishing time without wearing you out. Step up to the 10-hour Offshore Extreme and you've got more time to work different depths and structures. Go all-in with the 12-hour Offshore Ultimate Experience and you're looking at a full day of serious angling with time to really chase down the bigger fish. Everything's included - rods, reels, tackle, live bait, lures, and plenty of drinking water. You just show up ready to fish.
Offshore Tactics & Gear
Out here in the deep water, we're trolling for the speed demons like kings and mahi, but we'll also drop down to the bottom for some serious reef fish action. The boat carries quality Penn and Shimano gear that can handle whatever decides to grab your bait. Live bait is king out here - nothing beats a frisky goggle-eye or cigar minnow when the kings are running. We'll also pull some serious hardware like spoons, diving plugs, and ballyhoo rigs depending on what's working. When we find structure or a good temperature break, that's when things get interesting. The captain reads the water, watches the birds, and follows the bait schools. Some days we're fishing in 60 feet, other days we're running out to 100+ feet to find the blue water bite. It's all about adapting to what the Gulf gives us that day.

Species You'll Want to Hook
King Mackerel are the bread and butter of Gulf fishing, and Port Aransas sits right in their highway. These silver bullets can hit 40+ pounds and will test every bit of drag you've got. Spring through fall is prime time, with the biggest fish showing up when the water starts cooling in late summer. Kings love structure and bait schools, and when you hook one, you'll know it immediately. They make long runs and have sharp teeth, so wire leaders are a must. The fight is what keeps anglers coming back - pure speed and power.
Mahi Mahi bring the color and acrobatics to your day. These golden beauties love floating debris and weed lines, often traveling in schools. When you find one, there's usually more around. Mahi are known for their jumping ability and vibrant colors that change as they fight. They're also some of the best eating fish in the Gulf. Peak season runs from late spring through early fall, with the biggest bulls showing up in summer. They're aggressive feeders and will hit both live bait and artificials.
Wahoo are the speed demons of the deep. These torpedo-shaped fish can reach speeds over 40 mph and are known for their distinctive stripes. They're typically caught while trolling for other species, making them a welcome surprise. Wahoo have razor-sharp teeth and can cut through regular leaders, so heavy wire is essential. Fall and winter are prime wahoo time in Port Aransas waters. When you hook one, hold on tight - they make blistering runs that will have your reel screaming.
Cobia are the curious fish that will often come right up to the boat. These brown sharks-lookalikes can reach impressive sizes, with fish over 50 pounds not uncommon. They're strong fighters that like to dive deep and use their weight against you. Cobia are sight-fishing opportunities when they cruise near the surface, but they're also caught around structure and over reefs. Spring and early summer offer the best cobia action, especially when they're making their spawning runs.
Red Snapper are the crown jewel of Gulf bottom fishing. These crimson fighters are smart, strong, and absolutely delicious. They live around hard bottom, artificial reefs, and offshore structures. Red snapper have excellent eyesight and can be picky eaters, making them a challenging target. When the season's open, they're a top priority for most anglers. They fight hard all the way to the boat and are known for their excellent table fare. Peak season varies based on regulations, but summer typically offers the best opportunities.
