Everything's included - tackle, bait, licenses, and the local knowledge that makes the difference between a good trip and an epic one. With space for up to 6 anglers, this charter works perfectly for families, buddy trips, or anyone wanting to experience world-class fishing without the commitment of a full-day excursion.
What to Expect on the Water
Your morning starts early at the Fort Lauderdale inlet, where Captain Anthony will have the boat ready and waiting. The run to the fishing grounds is short - usually 10-20 minutes - which means more time with lines in the water and less time burning fuel. Once you reach the productive offshore waters, the crew gets multiple lines out immediately, typically running 7 trolling lines at once to cover maximum water and give you the best shot at hooking up. The boat is a center console Contender built specifically for fishing, so there's no diesel smell and plenty of room to fight fish. When conditions are right, you might switch to kite fishing with live bait - a technique that's deadly effective for sailfish and other pelagic species. The crew handles all the rigging, bait preparation, and boat positioning while you focus on the fun part: reeling in fish. Many trips see first hookups within 30 minutes of arriving on the grounds, and it's not uncommon to have your best action in the first hour.
Techniques and Tackle
The primary method is high-speed trolling with a spread of lures designed to attract fast-moving pelagic fish like wahoo, kingfish, and blackfin tuna. The crew runs a mix of diving plugs, spoons, and ballyhoo rigs at different depths to target various species simultaneously. When targeting sailfish specifically, they'll deploy kites with live bait - goggle eyes or pilchards - which creates an irresistible presentation on the surface. All tackle is top-quality and perfectly matched to the target species, from 20-pound class outfits for smaller fish up to 50-pound gear for the big sailfish and wahoo. The crew also carries downriggers for precise depth control when fish are holding deeper. If you're new to offshore fishing, don't worry - the crew will coach you through every step of the fight, from setting the hook to proper pumping and winding technique. For experienced anglers, they're happy to let you take the lead and share advanced techniques that work in these waters.
Customer Stories
"I booked the 3-hour sport fishing trip with start time of 7 AM for my brother and two young nephews who were visiting me from Seattle. The day started out stormy and we weren't sure if our trip would go forward. The weather cleared about half an hour later and we set out around 7:30 AM. We are novices and were hoping for food fish like snapper, tuna, or maybe even a mahi mahi. Any catch would have delighted us. What we got instead was a total surprise, an 80-inch sailfish!!! My brother and I took turns reeling in the fish and were completely exhausted afterwards. We felt seasick but held up. It was totally worth it and we had a lot of fun. It later sank in that what we caught was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. We also caught a bonito and barracuda. Captain Anthony was very knowledgeable, fun and pleasant to be with. It only took us 20 minutes to get to our fishing area and all of our catches took place within the first hour. I will definitely book with Captain Anthony again in the future." - Bryce
"Awesome experience! Great boat, affordable prices, experienced captains and crew. Knowledgeable captains got us on the fish and took care of everything. Non stop action catching a variety of fish trolling with 7 lines at once. Switched over to kite fishing for a whole new experience, running 4 live lines at once. Captain and crew were very patient with a lot of knowledge to share so we could land the fish. 5/5 stars, would highly recommend to novice and experienced anglers." - Ronald
"10/10 would recommend to anyone looking for a private charter, captain anthony is a great guy who knows his stuff. My wife and I went on the 3 hour morning charter and showed up a couple minutes early and he was there with the boat in the water waiting for us. We went out and the first thing he said was the morning fishing won't be too great because of the full moon yet he still put us on a couple fish. He then took us to a ship wreck and hooked us on a 'grandpa barracuda'. With our time coming to an end, captain Anthony told us that we would troll on the way in and got my wife and I on a double header of wahoo! After that we got some pictures at the dock and he gave us great recommendations of where to go for getting the fish mounted and which restaurants near by could cook our fresh catch." - John
