Private 10-Hour Offshore Charter in Orange Beach
Nothing beats the feeling of running lines in the deep blue waters off Orange Beach, especially when you've got a full 10 hours to work the hottest spots. This private offshore charter with Jus Cuz Fishing Charters puts you and up to five friends on some serious fish, targeting trophy species that call the Gulf of Mexico home. Captain Albert Stinson and his crew know these waters like the back of their hand, and they'll put you on everything from hard-fighting amberjack to lightning-fast wahoo. When you book private, you're calling the shots on where to fish and how long to work each spot until you find that magical bite.
What to Expect on the Water
Your day starts early at the Orange Beach marina, where Captain Albert and his crew will have the boat prepped and ready to roll. The run to the productive offshore grounds takes about an hour, giving you time to rig up and talk strategy. These aren't your typical nearshore trips – we're talking serious blue water fishing where the bottom drops to 200+ feet and the big fish roam. The Gulf waters here hold incredible structure, from natural reefs to artificial wrecks that concentrate baitfish and draw in the predators. You'll spend your day working different depths and techniques, from trolling the open water to dropping down on structure where the grouper and amberjack live. With 10 hours on the water, there's plenty of time to adjust tactics when the fish aren't cooperating and really dial in on what's working.
Trolling and Bottom Techniques
Offshore fishing here means mastering two main approaches – high-speed trolling for pelagics and precision bottom fishing for reef species. The trolling spread typically includes a mix of ballyhoo, skirted lures, and diving plugs run at different depths to cover the water column. When wahoo are running, we'll bump the speed up and work the color changes and temperature breaks where they hunt. For bottom fishing, it's all about heavy tackle and getting your baits down fast through the smaller fish to where the big grouper and amberjack hold tight to structure. The crew provides all the tackle, but if you've got favorite lures or rigs that have produced for you before, bring them along. Live bait makes a huge difference out here, and the crew knows how to catch and keep the right baits that drive these Gulf species crazy.
Customer Stories
"I will preface this by saying I personally have been on several Charter trips and after this one will only continue using Jus Cuz Fishing. on this trip was myself, my future wife and some family and friends, I was the only one with experience fishing. Unfortunately Captain Cuz was recovering from surgery and was unable to come with us however he set us up with Captain Bryant! Communication was great for the trip and I was consistently updated by Captain Bryant on weather conditions for the trip and possibility of cancellation this is why it was not a surprise to me when captain Brant suggested that we move the trip to the 21st due to some nasty weather and (luckily) the customers that originally booked that day not being able to make it out for their trip. we got out to the water and started trolling out to the area we would be targeting snapper in and was able to catch a few Bonita but nothing else was really biting but we were still having a good time with the Captain and Colby the deck hand on a beautiful day and then out of no where a crazy storm dropped on our heads! winds of 60+mph VERY rough seas and water spouts! however Captain Bryant expertly navigated us through the storm and back towards shore where we were going to call it quits until he saw a patch of clear sky open! he offered to take us for some more trolling so we agreed and after a bit the sky started to clear up and he said we would try to hit some snapper holes and put us on some FISH! The bite wasn't too great at first but after trying a few different areas we landed on a sweet spot and not only did Captain Bryant and Colby teach all of my group how to fish for snapper he got us our LIMIT of snapper, all the while we heard the other captains in the area on the radio talking about how they weren't catching anything today! Thanks to the crew of the Jus Cuz, what could have been a bad experience for a Group of first time Saltwater fishers + myself ended up being an awesome experience we will talk about for the rest of our lives!" - Christopher
Species You'll Want to Hook
Scamp grouper are one of those fish that make offshore trips worth every penny. These beauties live in 80-200 feet of water around rocky bottom and artificial reefs, and they're absolute bulldogs when hooked. Scamp typically run 3-8 pounds, with the occasional double-digit fish that'll test your drag system. They're most active during cooler months from October through March, when they move up from deeper water to feed aggressively on the reefs. What makes scamp special is their incredible table fare – the meat is firm, white, and has a sweet flavor that beats just about any fish in the Gulf. They're also curious fish, often coming up to investigate baits before committing, which makes them fun to target with live bottom rigs.
Red grouper are the workhorses of Gulf bottom fishing, and these Orange Beach waters hold some genuine trophies. Reds prefer sandy bottom mixed with hard structure in 60-120 feet, where they set up territories and ambush anything that comes close. These fish commonly run 5-15 pounds, but the big breeding females can push 20+ pounds and provide arm-burning fights. Red grouper bite best during warmer months from April through September, when they're actively feeding to support their spawning activities. They're aggressive feeders that'll take live pinfish, grunts, or cut bait fished tight to the bottom. The key with reds is getting your bait down fast and keeping steady pressure once hooked – they'll try to cut you off in the
