Private 6-Hour Offshore Fishing Trip | PM
When you're ready to leave the crowds behind and hit the serious fishing grounds, this private afternoon charter is exactly what you need. Just Add Water Charters takes experienced anglers 20+ miles offshore where the real action happens – we're talking pristine reefs, untouched wrecks, and structure that most boats never touch. This isn't your typical half-day trip where you fish the same tired spots as everyone else. Captain Wayne knows these waters like the back of his hand, and he's not afraid to run the extra miles to put you on fish that haven't seen a hook all week.
What to Expect on the Water
You'll launch in the afternoon when the offshore bite really fires up. The Florida coast comes alive in the PM hours – baitfish start moving, predators get active, and the wind typically dies down for better fishing conditions. This six-hour window gives us plenty of time to hit multiple spots without feeling rushed. We start with some serious bottom fishing on productive reefs and wrecks, then switch gears to trolling when the conditions are right. The boat stays comfortable for just two anglers, so you're not fighting for rail space or waiting your turn to fight a fish. Every minute on the water is prime fishing time, and with Captain Wayne's flexible approach, we'll adapt our strategy based on what's biting and what you're most excited to target.
Bottom Fishing & Trolling
We run a two-pronged attack that covers all the bases offshore. Bottom fishing is where we'll spend most of our time, dropping heavy tackle down 80-150 feet to target structure-oriented species. We're talking circle hooks, heavy sinkers, and live or cut bait that gets down fast and stays in the strike zone. The boat carries quality rods and reels that can handle anything from 5-pound snappers to 50-pound amberjack. When it's time to troll, we'll pull spreads of ballyhoo, diving plugs, and spoons at different depths to cover the water column. Trolling lets us cover ground while targeting pelagic species like mahi-mahi that cruise the blue water. Captain Wayne reads the water constantly – looking for birds, bait, temperature breaks, and structure that holds fish. When one technique isn't producing, we switch it up fast.
Customer Stories
"Great Captain, Great Boat, Great Time! Despite being late in the season, we still caught our bag limit of Red Snapper. If a spot stopped being productive, Captain Wayne would not hesitate to take us to another. Very flexible as to what we wanted to target. Once we caught the snapper, we tried various species. Son was able to get his PR. Looking forward to another trip next time we are in town. Highly Recommend "Just Add Water Charters"" - R.A.
Top Catches This Season
Red Snapper are the crown jewel of Gulf bottom fishing, and these Florida waters produce some absolute slabs. These fish live around hard structure – reefs, wrecks, and ledges – in 60-120 feet of water. Red snapper are smart and spooky, which makes them such a satisfying catch for experienced anglers. They'll hit live pinfish, cut bait, or small jigs, but you need to get your bait down quick before the smaller fish grab it. Peak season runs from June through August, but we catch quality snapper well into fall. A good red snapper will pull drag and head straight for the rocks, testing your tackle and technique. The meat is outstanding, and there's nothing quite like a limit of 20+ inch reds in the cooler.
Gag Grouper are the bruisers of the offshore reefs, and they'll give you a fight you won't forget. These fish live in caves and ledges, ambushing anything that swims by. Gags are opportunistic feeders that hit live bait hard, then immediately try to cut you off on the rocks. You need heavy tackle and technique to turn these fish before they reach cover. They're most active during cooler months, with prime season running October through March. A trophy gag will go 15-30 pounds, with the occasional 40+ pounder that'll really test your skills. The strike is explosive, and once hooked, it's a straight power battle to the surface.
Grey Triggerfish might not win any beauty contests, but they're scrappy fighters that keep the action hot between bigger catches. These fish school up around structure and compete aggressively for food, making them a reliable target when other species are finicky. Triggers have strong jaws designed for crushing shellfish, so they can bite through lighter leaders if you're not prepared. They're year-round residents but bite best in summer and early fall. Don't underestimate a good triggerfish – they pull surprisingly hard for their size and provide excellent table fare when prepared correctly.
Mahi Mahi represent the pinnacle of offshore trolling excitement. These fish are built for speed and acrobatics, putting on aerial shows that'll get your adrenaline pumping. Mahi travel in schools around floating debris, weed lines, and temperature breaks in the blue water. When we hook one trolling, there are usually more nearby, so we'll quickly get additional baits in the water for multiple hookups. Spring through fall offers the best mahi action, with fish ranging from small schoolies to bull dolphins over 40 pounds. The colors are spectacular when they're lit up and fighting, and few fish match their combination of speed, jumps, and raw power.
Greater Amberjack are the locomotives of the offshore world – pure muscle and endurance that'll test every ounce of your fishing ability. These fish patrol reefs and wrecks in large numbers, hitting baits with authority and making smoking runs that'll burn drag for hundreds of yards. AJ's are available year-round but bite best in cooler months when they move shallow to feed. A big amberjack will go 30
