What to Expect on the Water
Your day starts with a quick rundown of bowfishing basics – how to draw, aim, and account for light refraction in the water. Don't worry if you've never done this before; our guides walk everyone through the fundamentals. The boat is specially rigged for bowfishing with elevated platforms, LED lighting systems, and all the gear you need. We'll cruise the shallow flats and marsh edges where these fish hang out, moving quietly to avoid spooking them. The whole experience feels like hunting and fishing rolled into one. You'll spend your time scanning the water, waiting for that perfect shot opportunity when a ray glides by or a school of drum moves within range. The boat can handle up to 4 anglers comfortably, so there's plenty of room to move around and everyone gets their chances. Most trips see multiple species, and with 5 hours on the water, we cover serious ground to find the fish.
Bowfishing Gear and Techniques
We provide all the specialized bowfishing equipment – recurve bows, arrows with barbed points, and retrieval reels that let you pull in your catch. The arrows are attached to heavy-duty line, so when you connect with a fish, you're in for a fight as you hand-line it back to the boat. Aiming through water takes some getting used to since fish appear higher than they actually are, but our guides coach you through every shot. The key is leading moving targets and compensating for that refraction. We use polarized glasses to cut through surface glare and spot fish better. The boat setup includes shooting platforms that give you the right angle and stability for accurate shots. Most of our target species hang out in 2-6 feet of water, which is perfect bowfishing depth – deep enough for good-sized fish but shallow enough to see them clearly. The action can get fast and furious when we find a school, so be ready to draw and shoot quickly when the opportunities present themselves.
Customer Stories
"While researching fishing in Delaware, I came across MobSquad, and what immediately caught my attention were the MASSIVE rays in their photos, along with plenty of other impressive catches. Excited, I booked a trip and invited my uncles to join. From the start, the captain was in constant communication, helping me plan ahead in case of weather changes. On the day of our trip, we spotted over 15 rays with ease. We managed to land two huge ones, and the entire experience was an absolute thrill. As my uncle put it, "Most exhilarating thing I've ever done!" What really stood out was the captain's dedication—he didn't just cruise around talking; he actively searched for fish, taking us into every marsh patch we could fit into. The effort and passion he put into the trip made all the difference, and we had an unforgettable time. Without a doubt, we're already planning to come back next year!" - Haydn

Target Species Breakdown
Southern Stingrays are the crown jewel of bowfishing trips, and for good reason. These bottom-dwellers can span 3-4 feet across and put up a serious fight when arrowed. They cruise the flats looking for crabs and small fish, often burying themselves in sand with just their eyes showing. Spring through fall offers the best ray action as they move into shallow water to feed and breed. What makes them so exciting is the size factor – landing a mature ray feels like pulling in a underwater flying carpet that doesn't want to come quietly. Their flat profile makes them challenging targets since you need to hit them in the right spot for a clean, ethical shot.
Black Drum are another favorite target that shows up in good numbers around marsh edges and shallow bays. These chunky fish can reach 20-30 pounds and are surprisingly tough fighters for a fish that looks pretty mellow. They're bottom feeders that cruise along looking for crabs and shellfish, which makes them perfect bowfishing targets since they move predictably and hold in relatively shallow water. Fall and spring see the biggest concentrations as they move in to feed before and after spawning. The satisfaction of arrowing a big drum comes from their size and the fact that they're excellent table fare if you decide to keep some for dinner.
Atlantic Needlefish and Agujon Needlefish bring a different kind of challenge to bowfishing. These long, skinny predators cruise near the surface and move fast when they want to. They can reach 2-3 feet long but present a much narrower target than rays or drum. What makes them fun is their aggressive nature – they'll often investigate the boat and give you multiple shot opportunities. Summer months see the best needlefish action as they follow baitfish into shallow areas. Landing one requires good shot placement and quick reflexes since they're built for speed and can put on quite a show when hooked.
