These fish typically range from 1-4 pounds and are found around virtually every piece of structure from shallow reefs to deeper ledges. They're school fish, so when you find one, there are usually plenty more around. The technique is often high-low rigs with small hooks and cut bait, though they'll readily hit small jigs worked around the structure. They're active year-round but peak during the warmer months when baitfish are most abundant. While they may not be the largest fish you'll catch, their willingness to bite and excellent eating quality make them a favorite among both novice and experienced anglers.

Pro tip: when jigging for them, match your lure color to the baitfish in the area. They respond well to yo-yo jigging, but once you hook up, be ready for a serious fight.
Lutjanus AnalisMutton snapper are one of our most prized catches - beautiful pinkish fish that typically run 3-8 pounds, though we sometimes see 15+ pounders on the deeper edges. They hang around coral heads and sandy patches near reefs in 20-80 feet of water, and they're active feeders all day long.
