Sebastes AuriculatusBrown rockfish are perfect for anglers wanting steady action without the heavy fight. These chocolate-colored fish average around 18 inches and prefer hanging out near kelp beds and rocky structure from 100-400 feet deep. They're night feeders, so early morning and late afternoon bites are often best. What makes them popular is their willingness to take bait - they're not picky eaters and don't put up much of a struggle once hooked.
