Andalusia is the county seat of Covington County in the United States, which is located in southern Alabama, approximately north of the Florida panhandle. The original county seat, named Montezuma after the Aztec king, was established on the Conecuh River around 1824. However, the site was surrounded by swampland that harbored disease-carrying mosquitoes and was prone to flooding from the Conecuh River, forcing many of the original occupants to depart.

Decades later, Andalusia had a population of only 551, but many people lived on scattered farms at the time, contributing to the county's population. The population grew steadily until the early 2000s, when it leveled off as people moved out of the city limits to more modern developments. Today, this inland city is home to the World Championship Domino Tournament. It is a convenient stop for anglers traveling to and from key fishing destinations in Alabama and near the Florida border.

On the lake, water skiing and personal watercraft are permitted. Lake Jackson is regarded as one of Alabama's cleanest and clearest bodies of water. Fishing, boating, swimming, and waterskiing are all available on the lake. Anglers looking to land that huge bass can reach the sea via a boat launch and piers.

In the Blackwater River State Park, fishing is popular, only an hour away from Andalusia. Largemouth bass and blue catfish are likely to be caught by anglers. 2. Check Out the Boll Weevil Monument

The boll weevil, a bug that killed cotton harvests and was long a plague of Southern, Mexican, and South American agriculture, is honored by the monument. Farmers in eastern Alabama, who had long relied on cotton, saw the arrival of the weevil as an opportunity to diversify their crops. This resulted in the discovery that new crops (such as peanuts) could be produced on the same land, bringing new money to the area and developing more modern farming practices. The Boll Weevil Monument is believed to be the world's only monument dedicated to an agricultural pest.
