Full Day Fishing Trip - Palm Beach, FL
When you're ready to get serious about offshore fishing, Palm Beach delivers some of the best deep water action on Florida's Atlantic coast. This full-day charter with Beach Charter Company puts you right in the heart of the Gulf Stream, where the big fish live and the stories get made. With just three anglers max, you'll have plenty of room to work and the personal attention that makes all the difference when you're battling a sailfish or watching your drag scream on a wahoo run.
What to Expect on the Water
Your captain knows these waters like the back of his hand, and he's going to put you on fish. We're talking about heading 10-15 miles offshore where the water turns that deep blue color and the temperature breaks tell you you're in game fish country. The boat's rigged with quality tackle - spinning reels, conventional gear, and everything dialed in for the species we're targeting. You don't need to bring anything except your cooler for the catch and maybe some snacks, because this is an all-day affair. We're usually looking at an 8-hour trip, which gives us time to hit multiple spots and really work the water properly. The license is covered, so you can focus on what matters - putting fish in the boat.
Trolling the Blue Water
Out here, we're primarily trolling to cover water and find the active fish. The captain will set a spread of baits - maybe some ballyhoo, some lures, and definitely something that'll get a sailfish's attention. The key is reading the water, watching for birds, and knowing where the current breaks are holding baitfish. When we mark fish on the bottom machine or see signs of life on the surface, we might switch it up and do some live bait fishing or bottom dropping for the grouper and snappers. The boat's equipped with a good fishfinder, outriggers for the trolling spread, and enough rod holders to keep multiple lines working. This isn't about sitting still - we're constantly moving, adjusting, and putting you where the fish are feeding.
Species You'll Want to Hook
Mahi mahi are the bread and butter of Palm Beach offshore fishing, and for good reason. These fish are absolutely gorgeous - bright gold and green colors that'll make you reach for your phone before you even think about the cooler. They typically run 10-30 pounds out here, though we see bigger ones regularly. Best part about mahi is they're usually in schools, so when you find one, there's probably more underneath. They're also fantastic eating, which makes them a favorite with families. Peak season runs from late spring through early fall, but we catch them year-round when conditions are right.
Atlantic sailfish are what dreams are made of. These fish will test your tackle and your nerves with jumps that'll have you whooping from the cockpit. They're catch-and-release only, but landing a sail is something you'll remember forever. The fish average 6-7 feet and 40-60 pounds, and they fight like fish twice their size. Winter months, especially December through March, are prime time for sailfish in Palm Beach waters. The Gulf Stream pushes close to shore, and these fish follow the baitfish right to our doorstep.
Wahoo are the speed demons of the deep. When one hits your trolled bait, you'll know it immediately - the reel screams, the rod doubles over, and you better hang on. These fish can hit 60 mph and they'll take 200 yards of line before you know what happened. They're also some of the best eating fish in the ocean, with white, flaky meat that's perfect on the grill. We typically see wahoo in the 20-40 pound range, though bigger ones definitely swim these waters.
Northern kingfish, or king mackerel as most folks call them, are another top target. These fish are aggressive predators with razor-sharp teeth and an attitude to match. They'll hit live bait, trolled baits, or even jigged offerings when they're feeding. Kings can range from 15 pounds up to 40-plus, and they're excellent table fare. The key with kings is finding the right temperature water and bait concentrations.
Gulf grouper round out your target list and represent some of the best bottom fishing Palm Beach has to offer. These fish live in 80-150 feet of water around rocks, wrecks, and ledges. They're ambush predators that'll inhale a properly presented bait and then try to get back to their hole. Grouper fishing requires heavier tackle and a quick hook set, but the reward is some of the finest eating fish in the ocean. Red grouper, gag grouper, and black grouper all call these waters home.
