Alaska Halibut & Multi-Species Fishing Charter
Looking for a world-class Alaska fishing experience without the crowds? Our 10-hour shared charter puts you on some of the most productive waters in Alaska, targeting multiple species in one epic day on the water. With only 6 anglers max per boat, you'll get the personal attention and prime fishing spots that make all the difference between a good day and a legendary one. We're talking about waters where 100+ pound halibut cruise the bottom and salmon runs stack up like you wouldn't believe.
What to Expect on the Water
We push off at 6 a.m. sharp, which means you'll be hitting the prime feeding times when these fish are most active. The early start gives us the full 10 hours to work different depths and structure, maximizing your shots at multiple species. You'll choose two target species from our menu - Pacific Halibut, Coho Salmon, Lingcod, Yelloweye Rockfish, and Black Rockfish. Most anglers go for halibut as their main target since Alaska is hands-down the best place on the planet to tangle with these barn door-sized flatfish. The second species choice usually depends on the season and what's running hot. Our customer favorite combo is halibut and salmon, but don't sleep on the rockfish - they're scrappy fighters and excellent table fare. This preseason special runs from May 11 through September 13, hitting Monday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Bring your Alaska fishing license, snacks for the day, and layers since it can get chilly out there even in summer.
Techniques & Tackle Setup
We're fishing serious depths here - sometimes 200+ feet down to the halibut highways where the big flatteners live. We'll rig you up with heavy tackle, circle hooks, and enough weight to get your bait down through the current and stay planted on the bottom. For halibut, we're talking big chunks of herring or salmon bellies that'll get their attention from way off. When we switch to salmon, we'll troll with downriggers, running spoons and hoochies at different depths until we dial in where they're holding. The rockfish and lingcod bite comes on jigs and live bait around structure - kelp beds, rocky pinnacles, and underwater ledges where they ambush prey. Our boats are rigged with fish finders and GPS to mark the sweet spots, plus we've got landing nets big enough to handle whatever comes up from the depths. The beauty of a 10-hour trip is we can move around, try different techniques, and really put you on fish instead of just hoping for the best in one spot.
Top Catches This Season
Pacific Halibut are the kings of Alaska bottom fishing, and our waters produce some absolute monsters. These flatfish can live over 50 years and reach weights pushing 400+ pounds, though your typical keeper will run 20-80 pounds - still plenty of fish to feed the family for months. Peak season hits July through August when they're feeding heavy before winter. What makes halibut fishing so addictive is that every drop could be the fish of a lifetime. They fight like bulldogs on the way up, making long powerful runs that'll test your arms and your drag system. Coho Salmon show up in our area from July through September, and they're pound-for-pound some of the hardest fighting fish in the ocean. Fresh from the salt, they'll jump, run, and give you a workout that'll have you grinning ear to ear. These silver bullets typically run 8-15 pounds and are absolutely phenomenal on the dinner table. Lingcod are the wolves of the reef - aggressive predators that'll slam your jig and fight dirty all the way to the boat. They can push 40+ pounds and have mouths full of teeth that'll give you respect for these bottom dwellers. Yelloweye Rockfish are the granddaddies of the rock pile, living 100+ years and growing to impressive sizes. They're beautiful fish with their bright orange and yellow coloration, and they're prized by anglers who know quality table fare. Black Rockfish school up in massive numbers around structure, providing fast action when you find them stacked up and feeding.
Time to Book Your Spot
This preseason special won't last long, and with only 6 spots per trip, the best dates fill up fast. You're getting world-class Alaska fishing without the cattle boat experience, guided by captains who know these waters like their backyard. Whether you're after a freezer full of fillets or that trophy fish photo, this 10-hour adventure gives you the time and personal attention to make it happen. The season window from May through mid-September hits the sweet spot for multiple species, and the early morning departure means you'll be working the prime bite times all day long. Don't forget to grab your Alaska fishing license before you show up - you can get them online or at most sporting goods stores. Pack some snacks, dress in layers, and get ready for the kind of fishing day that keeps anglers coming back to Alaska year after year.
