You've got two solid options here – a 4-hour half-day trip at $425 or go all-in with our 7-hour full-day adventure for $525. Both trips kick off at 8:00 AM sharp, and we're running these from mid-May straight through mid-September when the fishing is absolutely dialed in. We keep groups small at just 4 people max, so you're getting that personalized attention that makes all the difference when you're learning new water. The full-day option includes lunch, so you can stay focused on fishing instead of worrying about food. Wade fishing is where the rubber meets the road in Alaska. You're not sitting in a boat waiting for fish to come to you – you're getting right into their world, reading the water, and presenting your fly exactly where it needs to be. We'll have you working through runs, eddies, and pools where rainbow trout and grayling love to hang out. The technique here is all about stealth and presentation. You'll learn to approach feeding fish without spooking them, how to mend your line in different current speeds, and which fly patterns are absolutely crushing it on any given day. Our guides know every rock, riffle, and deep hole on these rivers, and they'll put you in position to make the casts that count. We're talking dry fly fishing when the bugs are hatching, nymphing the deeper runs, and even some streamer action when the big fish are feeling aggressive.
Rainbow trout, including steelhead, are the main event here, and for good reason. These fish are absolute rockets when they hit your fly. Alaskan rainbows are different beasts entirely – they're thick, strong, and they know how to use the current to their advantage. You'll find them feeding aggressively from late spring through early fall, with peak action happening during the salmon runs when they're gorging on eggs and flesh. A typical rainbow here runs anywhere from 16 to 24 inches, but don't be surprised if you hook into something pushing 30 inches that'll test every bit of your gear and skill. Arctic grayling add a completely different flavor to your day on the water. These native beauties are like living jewels with their sail-like dorsal fins and incredible coloration. They're typically smaller than the rainbows – most run 12 to 16 inches – but they make up for size with sheer numbers and willingness to eat. Grayling are surface feeders by nature, so you'll get plenty of exciting dry fly action. They inhabit the clearer, colder tributaries and love to sip insects right off the surface. The best part about grayling fishing is how visual it can be – you'll often see them rising to naturals before you even make your first cast. They're most active during the warmer parts of the day and absolutely love small Adams, elk hair caddis, and mosquito patterns.
