Full-Day Offshore Fishing Charter Cape Cod
When you're ready to leave the harbor behind and chase the big ones that swim in deep water, this 10-12 hour offshore charter puts you exactly where you need to be. We're talking about heading out into the Atlantic where the continental shelf drops off and the real action happens. This isn't your typical half-day trip – we're burning serious fuel to get you to the productive grounds where Bluefin Tuna, Yellowfin Tuna, Mahi Mahi, and sharks cruise the blue water. With just four anglers max, you'll have plenty of room to work and won't be fighting for rod time when the bite heats up.
What to Expect on the Water
Your day starts early – we're talking pre-dawn departure to maximize our time in the productive zones. The captain knows these waters like the back of his hand and will put you on the fish using decades of local knowledge and modern electronics. You'll be running anywhere from 20 to 60 miles offshore depending on where the fish are holding and what the conditions look like. The boat comes loaded with quality gear, but if you've got your own setup and prefer using it, bring it along. We're targeting pelagic species that fight hard and run fast, so expect your drag to get tested. The smaller group size means everyone gets individual attention and coaching when you hook up. Don't worry about bringing lunch – you'll want to pack your own food and plenty of water since we're going to be out there for the long haul.
Trolling Tactics & Gear
Most of our fishing happens while trolling, which means we're constantly moving and covering water to find active fish. We'll be pulling a spread of lures behind the boat – everything from cedar plugs and spreader bars to ballyhoo rigs and diving plugs. The captain adjusts speed, depth, and lure selection based on what we're seeing on the fish finder and what's been producing recently. When we hook up, everyone reels in their lines except the angler fighting the fish. These offshore species are strong and fast, so expect fights that can last anywhere from 15 minutes to over an hour depending on the size of what you've hooked. We use quality Penn and Shimano reels paired with heavy action rods that can handle the punishment these fish dish out. Circle hooks are standard for most setups to improve hook-up ratios and fish survival.
Top Catches This Season
The Yellowfin Tuna bite has been absolutely on fire this year, with fish ranging from school-sized 40-pounders up to some real chunks pushing 100 pounds. These fish are pure muscle and will test your endurance – they make long, blistering runs that'll have your reel screaming. Yellowfin typically show up in our waters from July through October, with the peak action happening in late summer when the water temperatures are perfect. What makes them so exciting to catch is their speed and stamina. Unlike some fish that give you one good run and then come to the boat, Yellowfin will make multiple runs and keep fighting right up to the gaff.
Mahi Mahi, or dolphin fish as the old-timers call them, are probably the most fun fish you'll catch out there. They're acrobatic fighters that jump and shake their heads trying to throw the hook, and their brilliant colors make them a sight to behold. We typically find them around floating debris, weed lines, or temperature breaks from June through September. The bigger bulls can reach 30-40 pounds and will put on quite a show. Mahi are also some of the best eating fish in the ocean, so they're perfect for the dinner table.
The Bluefin Tuna fishing around Cape Cod has become legendary over the past decade. These are the giants of the tuna world – we're talking about fish that can exceed 200 pounds and fight like freight trains. Bluefin season typically runs from June through October, with the larger fish showing up later in the season. When you hook a big Bluefin, everything else stops. These fish have the power to take hundreds of yards of line in a single run, and the fight can easily last an hour or more. Many anglers consider landing a large Bluefin to be the pinnacle of offshore fishing on the East Coast.
Time to Book Your Spot
This full-day offshore charter represents some of the best fishing Cape Cod has to offer, and with only four spots available per trip, dates fill up fast during prime season. The extended time on the water gives you the best shot at connecting with trophy fish that smaller boats running shorter trips simply can't reach. Remember that deposits are non-refundable, so make sure you're committed to your date before booking. Weather can always be a factor with offshore fishing, but the captain will work with you to reschedule if conditions aren't safe. Pack your own food and drinks, bring sun protection, and get ready for a day of fishing that you'll be talking about for years to come. These are the trips that separate serious anglers from weekend warriors – if you're ready to chase the big ones in deep water, this is your charter.
