New Jersey Deep Sea Fishing | 13 Hour Charter
Looking for a serious fishing adventure off the Jersey coast? Moover Fishing Adventures runs one of the top-rated 13-hour deep sea charters in New Jersey waters, taking you 30-45+ miles offshore where the big fish live. This isn't your typical half-day trip – we're talking about a full commitment to finding the best fishing grounds where Mahi Mahi, Wahoo, Tuna, and Spanish Mackerel are actively feeding. With only 6 anglers max per trip, you'll get personalized attention from our experienced crew and plenty of room to fight those powerful offshore species without bumping elbows.
What to Expect on the Water
Your day starts early – we're talking pre-dawn departure to maximize fishing time and get you to the productive waters while conditions are prime. The ride out gives you time to rig up, grab some coffee, and watch the sunrise paint the Atlantic as we cruise past the continental shelf. Once we hit our fishing grounds, you're looking at 8-10 hours of serious angling in some of New Jersey's most productive offshore waters. The crew knows these waters like the back of their hand, reading the conditions, watching for bird activity, and positioning the boat over structure where fish congregate. Between late May and October, these waters come alive with migratory species following baitfish up the coast, creating world-class fishing opportunities just off our doorstep.
Trolling Tactics & Gear
We primarily troll for the pelagic species, running a spread of lures and baits designed to entice everything from aggressive Wahoo to curious Mahi. The boat's equipped with quality rods and reels that can handle the power of these offshore fighters, plus we'll have a variety of lures – from diving plugs to ballyhoo rigs – depending on what the fish are hitting. When we mark fish or find debris lines where Mahi like to hang out, we might switch to casting or even some live bait fishing. The crew handles the technical stuff like setting the spread and reading the fish finder, but they'll teach you the finer points of fighting fish and proper technique. Don't worry about bringing tackle – everything's provided, though you're welcome to bring your own gear if you've got favorites.
Species You'll Want to Hook
Mahi Mahi are the crowd favorites out here, and for good reason. These colorful fighters show up in our waters from June through September, often traveling in schools around floating debris or weed lines. They're absolutely beautiful fish with their golden sides and blue-green backs, and they fight like crazy – jumping, tail-walking, and making screaming runs. Most of the Mahi we catch range from 10-25 pounds, though bigger bulls show up regularly. What makes them so exciting is their aggressive nature – when you find one, there's usually more around, leading to some fast-paced action where multiple lines might go off at once.
Wahoo are the speed demons of the offshore world, capable of hitting 50+ mph when they strike a trolled lure. These fish are pure muscle with razor-sharp teeth, making blistering runs that'll test your drag system and your nerves. They're more solitary than Mahi, but when one hits, you know it immediately – the rod doubles over and line starts screaming off the reel. New Jersey's Wahoo typically run 20-40 pounds, with some real monsters pushing 50+ pounds showing up during peak season from August through October.
Albacore Tuna bring a different kind of fight to the table – they're endurance athletes that'll take you into your backing and keep pulling. These silvery torpedoes show up in good numbers during late summer and fall, often feeding on the surface where you can see them busting bait. They're fantastic eating and put up one of the most honest fights in the ocean – no tricks, just raw power and stamina. The Albacore we target typically range from 15-30 pounds, perfect size for some serious arm-burning action.
Spanish Mackerel might be smaller than the other species we target, but they make up for size with sheer numbers and willingness to bite. These aggressive little fighters are perfect for keeping the action going between bigger fish, and they're excellent table fare. They show up in good numbers throughout the summer, often mixed in with False Albacore, creating some fast-paced light tackle action that's a blast on spinning gear.
