Offshore Fishing Charters In Pensacola Beach
Ready to fish some of the Gulf's most productive waters? Our offshore charters out of Pensacola Beach deliver the kind of action that keeps anglers coming back year after year. Whether you're after reef fish on the nearshore wrecks or chasing big pelagics way out at the oil rigs, we've got the experience and local knowledge to put you on fish. With trip options from 4 hours to full 12-hour adventures, there's something here for every angler looking to test their skills against Gulf Coast gamefish.
What to Expect on the Water
Your day starts early at Pensacola Beach, where we'll get you rigged up and ready for whatever the Gulf throws our way. On our shorter 4-8 hour trips, we stay within 12 miles of shore, working the artificial reefs and shipwrecks that hold snapper, grouper, and amberjack. We'll also spend time trolling the color changes and temperature breaks where mahi-mahi, king mackerel, and wahoo cruise the open water. The longer 12-hour trips are where things get serious - we're talking nearly 100 miles offshore to the oil rigs, where the big boys live. Out there, you're in blue marlin and yellowfin tuna territory, plus we'll work the structure for everything from blackfin tuna to sailfish. Fair warning on the rig trips though - fuel's not included, and you'll feel why once we start that long run south.
Trolling, Bottom Fishing & Rigging
We run a mix of techniques depending on what we're targeting and where the fish are biting. When we're working the reefs and wrecks, it's all about precise bottom fishing - dropping live bait, cut bait, or jigs right into the strike zone where snapper and grouper hang out. We've got quality conventional reels spooled with heavy line because these bottom dwellers will test your drag system. For the pelagics, we'll pull a spread of trolling lures at different depths and distances, covering water until we find active fish. Out at the rigs, it gets interesting - we might live bait for the big tuna, work the structure with heavy jigs, or even break out the downriggers when the fish are holding deep. Every trip's different based on conditions, but we always adapt our approach to give you the best shot at hooking up.
Customer Stories

"Awesome trip. I've been on over 30 guided trips and this is one of the best I've been on. David super knowledgeable, boat and equipment is first class all the way. We however didn't catch a lot of fish but we boated a few. David went above and beyond was just a tough day on the water. I highly recommend Overkill adventures. I will be definitely be booking next time I'm in the Pensacola area.. Thanks David and Chris for a great day" - Douglas
"Capt. David with Overkill Adventures was great! We booked a 6hr offshore Reefs and Wrecks trip for our 11 yr old son's Christmas gift. David got us safely out on the water thru some dense fog but once we got to the gulf, the weather was perfect. 72 degrees and sunny in late December was quite a gift and the fishing was incredible. We caught our limit on Mingo snapper, all of which were larger than normal. Then came the real treat….ENORMOUS red snapper! An 11 yr old boy could not have been more excited to catch a 25lb red snapper and David did great helping him. Thanks Capt David for an awesome Christmas fishing trip!" - Karl Lewis

Yellowfin tuna are the crown jewel of our offshore program, and for good reason. These fish are pure muscle, averaging 40-80 pounds but capable of hitting triple digits out at the rigs. They're most active from late spring through early fall, especially when the water temps climb into the 80s. What makes yellowfins so special is their fight - they'll make long, powerful runs that'll have your arms burning and your drag screaming. Plus, there's nothing quite like sashimi-grade tuna you caught yourself.
Albacore tuna might be smaller than their yellowfin cousins, but don't sleep on these fish. Running 15-30 pounds on average, they're perfect for lighter tackle and make for some seriously fun fishing. They show up in good numbers during the cooler months, and they're fantastic eating. Albies are also great for getting kids or first-time anglers into the action since they don't require the heavy tackle that the big yellowfins demand.
Skipjack tuna are the speedsters of the bunch, rarely topping 10 pounds but making up for size with pure energy. These fish are often the first to show up when we're chumming or working a school, and they'll attack lures with reckless abandon. They're perfect bait for the bigger predators too, so don't be surprised if we keep a few in the livewell for later in the day.
Blackfin tuna are what many consider the best eating of all the tunas, with dark red meat that's rich and flavorful. They typically run 10-25 pounds and are more common closer to shore than the yellowfins. Blackfins are notorious for their acrobatic fights, often jumping multiple times once hooked. They're around pretty much year-round in our waters, making them a reliable target when the bigger fish aren't cooperating.
