6-Hour Port Orange Offshore Fishing Adventure
Captain Daniel Levesque knows these waters like the back of his hand, and he's ready to put you on some serious fish. This extended half-day charter gives you six solid hours to work the best spots from the inlet all the way out to the offshore grounds. We're talking about hitting productive reefs, wrecks, jetties, and structure that consistently hold fish along Florida's Atlantic coast. With up to six anglers on board, there's plenty of room for your crew to spread out and get lines wet without feeling crowded.
What to Expect on the Water
Captain Daniel adjusts every trip based on what's biting, weather conditions, and what you're hoping to catch. Some days we'll start nearshore around the inlet working the jetties for Snook and Sheepshead, then push offshore to hit the reefs for Grouper and Amberjack. Other times, we might spend the morning trolling for Cobia and Spanish Mackerel before settling in on some bottom structure for whatever's hungry. The beauty of having six hours is that we can move around and adapt to where the fish are most active. You'll cover a lot of water and get to experience different fishing styles all in one trip.
Techniques & Tackle
We mix it up depending on what we're targeting and where we're fishing. You'll get hands-on experience with bottom fishing when we're working the reefs for Grouper, live bait fishing when the Tarpon are rolling, and trolling when we're covering ground looking for pelagic species. Drift fishing over wrecks is another productive technique we use regularly, especially when the current is moving just right. Captain Daniel provides all the tackle and bait, so you don't need to worry about rigging up. He'll show you the right techniques for each spot and make sure everyone gets a chance to use different methods throughout the day.
Species You'll Want to Hook
Barracuda are some of the most exciting fish you'll encounter out here. These razor-toothed predators can hit 20-30 pounds and are known for their blistering runs and acrobatic jumps. They're year-round residents but really turn on during the warmer months. What makes them so fun to catch is their aggressive strikes - they'll absolutely crush a bait or lure, and once hooked, they put on a show with their speed and aerial displays.
Greater Amberjack are the bulldogs of the reef. These powerful fish can easily reach 40-60 pounds in these waters and will test your arms and your drag system. They're most active from spring through fall, and they love hanging around wrecks and hard bottom structure. When you hook into a big AJ, get ready for a serious fight - they'll head straight for the bottom and make you work for every inch of line you gain back.
Crevalle Jack might not win any beauty contests, but they're pure muscle and attitude. These bruisers average 10-20 pounds but can get much bigger, and they fight way above their weight class. They're around year-round but really light up during the summer months. What anglers love about Jacks is their never-give-up mentality - they'll pull drag from the surface all the way to the boat.
Cobia are one of the most prized catches along this coast. These brown sharks (as some folks call them) can reach 30-50 pounds and are incredibly smart fish. Spring and early summer are peak season when they're cruising the nearshore waters. They're sight-fishing targets that will follow the boat and inspect your bait before deciding to eat. Landing a big Cobia is special because they're excellent table fare and provide a memorable fight with their size and strength.
Red Snapper are the gold standard of bottom fishing when they're in season. These beautiful fish typically run 5-15 pounds in our area and are found around reefs and wrecks in 60+ feet of water. They're incredibly popular because they're both fun to catch and outstanding on the dinner table. Snapper can be finicky biters, so it takes some skill and patience to consistently catch them, which makes landing one that much more satisfying.
