Bodega Bay Fishing Adventure (Shared Trip)
Picture yourself casting lines in one of Northern California's most productive fishing waters at first light. Our 8-hour Bodega Bay fishing adventure puts you right in the action, targeting some of the coast's most sought-after species during prime fall season. Running from September 26 through November 1, this shared charter is perfectly timed when salmon are making their final runs and lingcod are feeding heavily before winter. At $600 for two anglers, you're getting a world-class fishing experience that includes everything you need - gear, bait, tackle, ice, and we'll even clean and fillet your catch so you can head home with dinner ready for the table.
What to Expect on the Water
We launch bright and early at 6:30 AM from Bodega Bay Harbor, giving us the full day to work the most productive spots along this renowned stretch of Sonoma Coast. The beauty of fall fishing here is the variety - one minute you might be battling a hard-charging chinook salmon, the next you're wrestling a stubborn lingcod off the rocky bottom. Our experienced captain knows these waters like the back of his hand, reading the conditions and adjusting our approach based on what's biting. The shared charter format means you'll fish alongside other passionate anglers, creating that camaraderie that makes these trips special. Don't worry about experience level - we welcome everyone from seasoned pros to first-timers looking to learn the ropes.
Gear and Techniques
We've got you covered with top-quality rods and reels suited for both salmon trolling and bottom fishing for lingcod and rockfish. Depending on conditions and what's biting, we'll switch between techniques throughout the day. For salmon, we'll typically troll flashers and spoons or run downriggers with cut plug herring to get down to where the fish are holding. When targeting lingcod, we shift gears to heavy jigs and live bait, working the rocky structure where these predators ambush their prey. All tackle, weights, and bait are included, plus we carry backup gear so you're never sidelined by a break-off or equipment issue. Just remember to bring your California fishing license - it's required and you can grab one online before the trip.
Top Catches This Season
Chinook salmon are the crown jewel of our fall fishing season, and Bodega Bay serves up some true trophies. These powerful fish typically range from 15 to 30 pounds, with the occasional monster pushing 40-plus pounds that'll test your arms and make your reel scream. September through October is prime time as mature kings stage outside the bay before making spawning runs. What makes chinook so special is their incredible fight - they'll make blistering runs, jump clear out of the water, and test every knot in your terminal tackle. The meat is absolutely phenomenal too, with that rich, buttery flavor that makes salmon the king of the dinner table.
Lingcod are the other star of our show, and these prehistoric-looking predators are pure excitement on the end of your line. Growing up to 40 inches and 20-plus pounds in these waters, lingcod are aggressive ambush predators that hang around rocky reefs and kelp forests. Fall is perfect timing as they're feeding heavily, and you'll know immediately when one grabs your jig - they hit hard and fight dirty, using their powerful jaws and the rocky bottom to try breaking free. Don't let their somewhat ugly appearance fool you - lingcod produce some of the best eating fish in the ocean, with firm white meat that's perfect for fish tacos, fish and chips, or grilling. Plus, there's always the chance of hooking into a true giant that'll give you bragging rights for years.
Time to Book Your Spot
Fall fishing in Bodega Bay is legendary for good reason - the salmon runs are peaking, the lingcod are active, and the weather is typically at its most stable. This customer favorite trip books up quickly during prime season, especially weekends when local anglers know the bite is hot. At $600 for two people with everything included, you're getting tremendous value compared to what you'd pay elsewhere along the coast. We handle all the hard work so you can focus on what matters - hooking fish and making memories. The 8-hour format gives us time to really work different areas and techniques, maximizing your chances at filling the cooler. Whether you're a seasoned angler looking for your next trophy or someone wanting to experience world-class fishing for the first time, this Bodega Bay adventure delivers the goods.
