Northeast Oklahoma Crappie & Multi-Species Fishing
Looking for the best crappie fishing in northeast Oklahoma? You've found your guy. I'm TJ, and I've been putting anglers on quality fish across Skiatook, Oologah, and Keystone Lakes for years. This isn't your typical fishing trip – we're talking professional-grade equipment, Garmin LiveScope technology, and the kind of local knowledge that only comes from fishing these waters day in and day out. Whether you're a complete beginner or a seasoned angler wanting to learn new techniques, I'll have you catching fish and understanding why these northeast Oklahoma lakes are some of the best crappie waters in the region.
What to Expect on the Water
Here's the deal – I fish where the fish are biting best. That might be Skiatook one day, Oologah the next, or Keystone depending on conditions. Wind, water temperature, and fish patterns dictate where we go, and I'm not afraid to make the call that puts more fish in the boat. My base rate covers up to three anglers at $350 for one person, $450 for two, and $550 for three. Kids under 12 fish free (maximum of two), because getting the next generation hooked on fishing is what it's all about. I provide everything you need – rods, reels, tackle, bait, and I'll even clean and bag your catch. All you need is a fishing license, a small cooler with drinks and snacks, and clothes appropriate for the weather. During summer months, we can also target whitebass, hybrids, and stripers when they're active, giving you a shot at multiple species in one trip.
LiveScope Tech & Techniques
My boat is outfitted with the latest Garmin LiveScope technology, and I'm not just using it – I'm teaching you how to read it. This real-time sonar lets us watch fish react to our baits, see how they move in the water column, and adjust our approach accordingly. It's like having underwater vision, and once you understand what you're looking at, your fishing game changes forever. I use high-quality rods and reels matched to the fishing we're doing, from light action crappie rigs to heavier setups for stripers and hybrids. We'll fish a variety of techniques depending on conditions – vertical jigging, spider rigging, casting to shallow cover, or working deep structure. The key is staying versatile and letting the fish tell us what they want. I'm constantly moving and adjusting until we find that sweet spot where they're feeding.

Species You'll Want to Hook
Crappie are the bread and butter of what we do here, and northeast Oklahoma has some of the finest crappie fishing you'll find anywhere. These slab-sided fighters typically run 10-14 inches in our lakes, with plenty of keepers and some real donkeys mixed in. Spring is prime time when they move shallow to spawn, making them easier to pattern and catch in good numbers. But don't count out fall and winter fishing – that's when the big schools form up and you can really load the boat. Crappie are structure-oriented fish, so we'll be working brush piles, standing timber, rocky points, and creek channels. They're also suspended fish, meaning they might be anywhere in the water column. That's where the LiveScope really shines, showing us exactly where they're holding and how they're positioned. What makes crappie special is they're fantastic eating fish with sweet, white meat that's perfect for the frying pan.
During the warmer months, we can switch gears and target whitebass, hybrid stripers, and pure stripers. Whitebass are scrappy fighters that school up in huge numbers, especially during their spring run. When you find them, it's fast action with multiple fish on at once. Hybrids are the cross between stripers and whitebass – they fight harder than whitebass but aren't quite as large as pure stripers. They're aggressive feeders and will hit everything from live bait to artificial lures. Pure stripers are the trophy fish of these lakes, capable of reaching 20+ pounds and providing some serious drag-screaming runs. They're ambush predators that love to bust schools of shad on the surface, creating some of the most exciting topwater action you'll ever experience. All three species are excellent table fare and provide a nice change of pace from crappie fishing.
