Deep Sea Fishing Miami | 8HR Fishing
Miami Beach's offshore waters are calling, and the Therapy IV is your ticket to some of the best big game fishing on the East Coast. This isn't your typical half-day charter – we're talking about a serious 8-hour commitment to chasing trophy fish in the deep blue. With Captain and crew who know these waters like the back of their hand, you'll be targeting the kind of fish that make for legendary fish stories. We keep our groups small at just 6 anglers max, so everyone gets plenty of rod time and personal attention from the crew.
What to Expect on the Water
Your day starts early – we're talking first light departure to make the most of those prime fishing hours. The Therapy IV is rigged and ready for serious offshore action, with outriggers spread wide and a full spread of baits working the water. We'll be running anywhere from 3 to 20 miles offshore, depending on where the fish are showing up on the charts and what the water temps are telling us. The crew handles all the heavy lifting – rigging baits, setting lines, and coaching you through the fights. You just focus on feeling that rod load up and hanging on tight when a big fish decides to take your bait for a ride. The boat's equipped with everything you need, from heavy tackle to fighting belts, plus all the terminal tackle and fresh bait.
Trolling the Deep Blue
This is all about trolling the offshore waters where the big pelagics cruise. We'll be pulling a mix of natural baits like ballyhoo and bonito strips, along with some high-speed lures that drive wahoo absolutely crazy. The spread typically includes flat lines, rigger baits, and maybe a few dredges if the bite calls for it. When we mark fish on the sonar or spot birds working, we might switch things up with some live bait fishing or even break out the kite rigs if conditions are right. The crew knows how to read the water – looking for color changes, weed lines, and temperature breaks where baitfish stack up and the predators follow. Expect to cover some serious water throughout the day, always chasing the next bite.
Top Catches This Season
The Greater Amberjack around Miami Beach are absolute bruisers, often weighing in between 40-80 pounds with some real giants pushing triple digits. These fish are known for their bulldogging fights – they'll head straight for the bottom and test every ounce of drag you've got. Peak season runs from March through May, though we see good numbers year-round around the deeper wrecks and ledges. What makes jacks so popular with our guests is that raw power – they don't jump like billfish, but they'll give you a workout that'll have your arms burning.
Wahoo are the speed demons of the offshore world, and Miami's waters produce some real rockets. These fish can hit 50+ mph and typically run 20-60 pounds in our area. Fall and winter months are prime time for wahoo, especially November through February when they're moving through in good numbers. The strike is what gets anglers hooked – wahoo hit trolled baits like a freight train, often clearing the water on their initial run. Their razor-sharp teeth and blistering speed make for some of the most exciting fishing you'll find offshore.
White Marlin are the smaller cousins of the blue marlin, but don't let their size fool you – these fish are pure acrobats. Running 40-80 pounds on average, they make up for their smaller stature with incredible aerial displays and lightning-fast runs. Summer months from June through September offer the best white marlin action in our waters. Guests love these fish because they're aggressive feeders and put on an amazing show when hooked, often jumping repeatedly and tail-walking across the surface.
Black Marlin are the holy grail for many offshore anglers visiting Miami. These fish can exceed 500 pounds and provide the fight of a lifetime. While not as common as other species in our area, when we hook into a black marlin, it's a day nobody forgets. They're most active during the warmer months and are known for their incredible power and endurance. The thrill comes from the sheer size and strength – these fish can strip hundreds of yards of line in seconds and test every piece of equipment on the boat.
Blackfin Tuna are year-round residents in Miami's offshore waters and provide consistent action when other species are being finicky. These fish typically run 5-25 pounds and are fantastic on lighter tackle. They school up around structure and temperature breaks, often feeding aggressively on the surface. Blackfins are perfect for anglers who want steady action and excellent table fare – they're some of the best eating fish we catch regularly.
