Book with Mike Modica
Fishing is merely a vehicle for what we really offer: cherished memories that will last a lifetime! After serving as a Captain in the US Army, graduating from Harvard Business School, and a successful business career, Uncle Mike retired so he could devote his time to his passion... fishing. It all started when Mike's son Chris asked a simple question at seven years old: "Dad, would you take me fishing?" Ever since then, the two have spent hours on the water together, and they've long since mastered the Long Island fishery.
Uncle Mike's Fishing Charters specializes in family fishing. There's no better feeling in the world than helping someone catch his or her first fish, and hundreds of youngsters have caught their first fish on our boat! Most of this beginner fishing takes place in the calm waters off the Shinnecock Bay. The ocean is readily accessible for "bottom fishing" at productive local wrecks, trolling, or drifting in the inlet.
Uncle Mike's Fishing excursions are done of "The Ship of Fools", a 28 foot Grady White Sailfish. The Ship of Fools is well equipped with both safety and "fishability" in mind. It is equipped with Raymarine electronics (fish finder, GPS navigation, and radar), twin Yamaha 200 hp 4 stroke engines, lots of rod holders, outriggers, fish boxes, a live well, well thought out tackle storage system, stereo system, and redundant ship to shore communications capabilities. The Ship of Fools cruises comfortably at 25 knots, bringing many prime fishing spots into easy range. The Ship of Fools is an excellent all around fishing platform. It can fish in as little as three feet of water in Shinnecock Bay, prowl the offshore canyons in search of big game, and everything in between.

Good knowledge of the waters. Me and my two sons caught over 40 fish in a four hour excursion. Lots of keepers. Boat accommodates 4 people comfortable. Any more and it may be a bit cramped. Nice and patient man that is always looking to help.
