Agua Caliente Creek is classified as a short river found in Alameda County. Within the county, it is sandwiched in between Milpitas and Fremont. The river in itself acts as a watershed that connects to Coyote Creek and goes through Mud Slough, until finally exiting into San Francisco Bay. Although called a creek, the Coyote waterway is actually a river that runs for about 63.6 miles. Its water comes from Mount Sizer and the hills of Diablo Range. Despite draining 360 square miles of water, the river can actually overflow in times of strong rain. 

Both Milpitas and Fremont are part of Alameda County. The area was first inhabited by the Native American Ohlone tribe, who had been in the area for thousands of years. Like many areas in California, Alameda changed hands numerous times through Spanish immigration, Mexican independence, until finally joining the United States after the end of the Mexican-American war.
