Shared Boat Weekday Fishing Adventure
Looking for a solid fishing day without breaking the bank? Our shared weekday trips are perfect for anglers who want to get on the water and chase some quality fish in the backwaters and nearshore zones. This isn't some crowded weekend circus – weekday fishing means quieter waters, more cooperative fish, and a relaxed pace that lets you actually enjoy the experience. We'll take you to productive spots where sea trout cruise the grass flats, snappers stack up around structure, and you might even tangle with a feisty bonnethead shark or crevalle jack.
What to Expect on the Water
This is a shared charter, so you'll be fishing alongside other anglers who are just as eager to bend some rods. We need at least three people to make the trip happen – if we don't hit that minimum, we'll give you a full refund and try to reschedule. No worries there. The boat holds up to six anglers comfortably, so you'll have plenty of room to work without bumping elbows. All your bait and tackle are included, from live shrimp and finger mullet to the rods, reels, and terminal tackle. Just bring yourself, some snacks if you want them, and maybe a cooler for your catch. We'll handle everything else, including cleaning your fish at the end of the day.
Techniques & Hot Spots
We fish both backwater flats and nearshore structure depending on conditions and what's biting. In the shallows, we'll work the grass beds and oyster bars with live bait under popping corks – classic sight fishing for sea trout and reds when they're cruising. The deeper nearshore spots are where we target the snappers around ledges and artificial reefs. We'll anchor up and drop live shrimp or cut bait to the bottom, watching for that telltale tap-tap-pull of a lane snapper or the heavier thump of a mutton. When the jacks are running, we'll throw some artificials – spoons, jigs, or topwater plugs that'll get hammered by these aggressive fighters. The bonnethead sharks are usually a bonus catch, showing up when we're working the flats with cut bait.
Top Catches This Season
Sea trout are the bread and butter of our inshore fishing, and these spotted beauties are active year-round in our waters. Spring and fall are prime time when they school up in the grass flats, feeding heavily on shrimp and small baitfish. A good keeper trout runs 15-20 inches and fights with surprising strength for its size. They're also excellent table fare – sweet, flaky white meat that's perfect for the grill. Bonnethead sharks might sound intimidating, but these smaller members of the hammerhead family are actually a blast to catch. They average 2-3 feet long and put up a solid fight on light tackle. They're curious feeders that'll take cut bait, and their unique hammer-shaped head makes for great photos before release.
Crevalle jacks are the bullies of the inshore waters, and when they show up, you know you're in for a workout. These silver torpedoes can weigh 10-20 pounds and fight like fish twice their size. They'll school up and attack bait with reckless abandon – the water looks like it's boiling when they're feeding. They're catch-and-release fish since the meat is too strong for most palates, but the fight is what you're after anyway. Mutton snappers are the prize catch of our nearshore trips, with their pink and yellow colors and excellent eating quality. They're smart fish that require finesse – light leaders and fresh bait are key. A 5-10 pound mutton is a trophy fish that'll make your day. Lane snappers are smaller but more plentiful, with their distinctive yellow stripes and pink hues. They're great for beginners since they bite readily and are perfect for the dinner table.
