“My brain. Knowledge is the most important thing to have as a fishing guide. You have to adapt to the ever changing conditions such as tides, weather, and hurricanes in my area, which is Louisiana. Knowing the waters and how to adapt is the best tool you can have.” -Captain Shane York, Gripping Lips Guide Service

“The most important equipment I use when fishing Steelhead Alley is my Smith Optics polarized sunglasses. Any pair of polarized sunglasses will cut through glare on the river giving you a clearer picture of the river structure. If you know where steelhead like to hold during different times of the year, water temperatures, and flow, then your polarized sunglasses will give you the best chance at finding them especially when you're fishing new water. So buy a pair at your local fly shop and go catch a fish!” -Guide Lucas Smith, What That Vise Do

“My boat, being as I don't shore fish without my boat it would not be possible. Also, it allows me to cross miles of very shallow flats which other boats would not be able to do.” -Captain Todd Vivian, Spot Stalker Charters

“Tide charts, moon phases, and feeding times. This will increase our ability to find the fish or look in a certain area." -Captain Larry Miller, Fishin' All The Time Guide Service

“My chart plotter because with it I can key into bottom structure that I want to target.” -Captain Rich Adler, Tuna Wahoo Charters

“Our boat. We specifically chose the boats we have to accommodate those who are handicapped or disabled people who cannot stand for hours on a normal fishing boat.” -Captain Ingrid Read, 289 Striper Guide
