About The First Creek

About First Creek, OH

First Creek is a stream found within Ohio’s Warren County. Starting at the Warren County Line or Claremont, the water body runs right through Clemont’s northernmost region and Warren County’s south-central and southernmost regions.

While the river has a constant measure of elevation, being 640 feet, First Creek’s width tends to change as it widens in some parts of its runoff. In the upper portion before it runs down to State Route 132, First Creek has an estimate of five to eight feet. Meanwhile, in the lower portion of the river, it would then display an estimated width of 10 to 25 feet as it stretches to more open banks.

Aside from that, the lower part of the river is found to be rockier and deeper than other parts.

Furthermore, it is found to be scenic as it runs through State Route 132 and on the portion of the river that runs through Volkerding Road.

First Creek Fishing Description

All About Fishing in First Creek, OH

In First Creek, fish are most commonly found in the lower portion, making the river’s lower portion the best spot in the river to fish in. This part of the river sports features such as tree-lined banks, deep waters, and rocky bottoms with gravel bars and sand which are appealing to typical fish species such as rock bass, smallmouth bass, and game fish species (e.g. perch, bluegill, sunfish).

Anglers who intend to fish for these species should know that the use of bait such as crayfish, insects, and much smaller fish will provide much higher possibilities of catching such marine species. In addition to that, the use of the jigging fishing technique is also highly advised.

Furthermore, when fishing in the lower portions of the river, anglers should also know that fishing access is not always easy due to the fact that this portion of First Creek runs through private property. Therefore, anglers are inclined to ask for permission before fishing in these parts.
