About The Lake Laurier Golden Meadow

About Lake Laurier, LA

Lake Laurier is located within Lafourche Parish in Louisiana. It’s found about 9 miles away from the city of Grand Isle and is also located close to Cheniere Caminada. It’s close by several water bodies, with some even connected to it. Some of the more well-known water bodies close to the lake include four beautiful lakes namely Round Lake, Lake Five, Lake Palourde, and Lake Judge Perez. You can find two bays near the lake called Raquette Bay and Goelette Bay. There are also a few cities close to the town, these include Belle Chasse, Pointe à la Hache, and Leeville.

One of the towns closest to the lake is Bella Chasse, a place considered to be a part of the Greater New Orleans metropolitan area. It’s famous for being the largest community in the area and contains the Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base New Orleans, a very important U.S Naval Air station for the U.S Navy. There is some contention as to how the town gained its name, but some say that “belle chasse” comes from the French word "beautiful hunting", which alludes to the rich wildlife observed by early colonizers. However, some suggest that the town was named after the prolific Colonel Joseph D. Bellechasse, who stayed in New Orleans during the early 18th century.

The nearest landmark town to the lake is named Pointe à la Hache, which is found on the east bank of the Mississippi River. Its first settlers were the French, who arrived in 1700 and gave it the name "Pointe à la Hache", French for "ax point, or cape". It was marked as “Hatchet Point” in the “Mitchell Map of 1755”.

Lake Laurier Golden Meadow Seasonal & Other Description

Fishing Seasonality

Since the fish species in the lake are so varied and healthy, you can fish here at any season and still be able to get a good catch. However, there is a season where it’s best to start your fishing trip. The best time to start is during the spring in the days between March 20 to June 20, since this is the time where many fish species here head to shallower waters to spawn their young. This makes them more vulnerable to your bait, allowing you to boost your chances of getting a catch.

Fishing isn’t that heavily monitored, just bring a license and you can fish any time in the lake. But there is a time of day where the fish are more active, reports show that the best time to fish is from 4:51 AM to 6:51 AM. If that’s too early, there is another schedule just as effective. The next best time to fish is from 5:21 PM to 7:21 PM.
