The Winnicut River is found in New Hampshire’s Seacoast region. Although known as a major tributary of the southeastern portion of the Great Bay, this water body is quite a small river. Displaying a length of only 9.1 miles, the river rises by the town of North Hampton’s Line Swamp and then flows to the north by a suburban development before it enters another town, Greenland.

Aside from being known as a tributary of the Great Bay, the Winnicut River is also well known for being an estuary that is connected to the Piscataqua River and the Atlantic Ocean. While it is popular as so, many are not aware that the river is open to the public and can be visited quite easily due to the Weeks Trails conservation area.

Aside from these, one may also occasionally find the blueback, alewife, and salmon.

Besides the river being healthy enough for such populations of marine species to grow, the migratory fish populations have been continuously increasing because there is no dam that blocks the river anymore, leading plenty of fish to travel right to the river.
