Private 4-Hour Inshore & Nearshore Fishing
Looking for a fishing trip that covers all the bases? This 4-hour adventure with Green Creek Outfitters gives you the full coastal experience. We're not just sticking to one spot or one technique—you'll get to sample everything from sight-casting in the shallows to working structure farther out. Our captain knows these waters like the back of his hand and will adjust the game plan based on conditions, your skill level, and what's biting. Whether you're bringing the family or planning a guys' trip, this charter accommodates up to 4 anglers and promises variety that keeps everyone engaged.
What to Expect on the Water
This isn't your typical "pick a spot and hope" kind of fishing trip. We cover a lot of ground in 4 hours, starting in the protected inlets and bays where redfish cruise the grass flats, then potentially pushing out up to 10 miles offshore depending on what's happening. You'll rotate through different techniques—live bait fishing when the fish are finicky, casting artificials when they're aggressive, jigging over structure, and maybe some trolling if we're moving between spots or targeting pelagics. The captain reads the conditions and adjusts throughout the day, so you might find yourself sight-casting to tailing reds in 2 feet of water, then an hour later dropping baits in 40 feet targeting cobia around markers. It's this variety that makes the trip exciting for beginners and seasoned anglers alike. All tackle and bait are provided, though feel free to bring your favorite rods if you've got them.
Techniques & Tactics We Use
We run the full playbook on this charter. Live bait fishing is our bread and butter—nothing beats a frisky shrimp or pinfish when the bite gets tough. We'll anchor up on productive spots and let the baits work naturally in the current. When the fish are more active, we switch to artificials: soft plastics bounced along the bottom for redfish, topwater plugs for early morning action, and jigs worked around structure. Trolling comes into play when we're covering water or specifically targeting species like cobia and barracuda that cruise the open flats. The captain will coach you through each technique, whether you're learning to work a jig for the first time or perfecting your topwater presentation. We've got spinning gear, conventional tackle, and everything in between. The boat is rigged with quality electronics to locate structure and baitfish, plus all the necessities like a livewell, fish box, and comfortable seating. Most importantly, our captain has years of experience reading water conditions, tides, and fish behavior to put you on the best action possible.
Top Catches This Season
Redfish are the backbone of our inshore fishery and for good reason. These copper-colored bruisers average 18-27 inches in our waters and fight way above their weight class. Spring through fall offers the most consistent action, but winter can produce some monster fish when they school up in deeper channels. What makes reds so popular is their willingness to eat almost anything—live shrimp, cut bait, soft plastics, topwater plugs, you name it. They're also great for beginners because they don't have sharp teeth and are relatively easy to handle. The real thrill comes when you spot them tailing in shallow water and make that perfect cast.
Great Barracuda are the speed demons of the flats. These toothy predators can exceed 40 inches and provide some of the most exciting fights you'll experience. They're ambush hunters that love to lurk around structure, grass edges, and drop-offs. Summer months are prime time when they move into shallower water to feed. Barracuda will absolutely destroy a well-presented tube lure or spoon, often jumping multiple times during the fight. They're also one of the best species for testing your drag system—these fish make blistering runs that can empty a spool if you're not ready.
Cobia are the wild cards that can make your entire trip. These brown sharks (as some folks call them) can reach 30-50 pounds in our area and are incredibly curious fish. Spring migration brings the biggest fish through, but we see them sporadically throughout the warmer months around buoys, markers, and other structure. Cobia will often swim right up to the boat to investigate, giving you a shot at sight-casting. They're excellent table fare and provide a powerful, determined fight that's different from most other species.
Bluefish might not win beauty contests, but they make up for it with pure aggression. These choppers travel in schools and when you find them, the action can be non-stop. They're particularly active during fall and winter months when baitfish are concentrated. Blues will hit almost any moving bait or lure, making them perfect for beginners or when you just want to see some rod-bending action. They're also underrated on the dinner table when prepared fresh.
Black Sea Bass are the perfect bottom fish for this type of trip. They hang around hard structure, wrecks, and reefs in 15-50 feet of water. These guys are chunky fighters that provide steady action when other species are being difficult. They're most active during cooler months and are excellent eating. Sea bass fishing is also great for teaching proper bottom fishing technique and helps anglers learn to feel the difference between fish bites and structure.
