They love shallow muddy flats, oyster beds, and creek mouths where they crush shellfish with their powerful jaws. Spring is peak season when they school up for spawning - that's when we really target them. What guests love is the dogged fight they put up, plus that distinctive drumming sound they make. Keep the smaller ones under 15 pounds for eating; the big ones get tough. Here's the trick: fresh blue crab is your best bet for bait.
