Captain Jonny and his father Captain Jon are both U.S. Coast Guard approved OUPV Captains authorized to carry up to 6 passengers.
Captains Jonny and Jon have been fishing and boating in all portions of the Chesapeake Bay for 20 plus years. They are originally from Maryland where they fished the upper and middle Chesapeake Bay. Captain Jonny worked for 3 years as first mate on the Vicki Ann in Deale, MD. Captain Jon has fished the middle Chesapeake since he was a kid, as well as working as a first mate on several boats in Deale, MD.
In 2020 Captains Jonny and Jon teamed up and started Salty Hooker Charters, LLC in Cape Charles, Virginia. They both now reside in the Cape Charles area, where they love the awesome fishing the lower Chesapeake provides!.
Fishing in the lower Chesapeake bay out of Cape Charles is rewarding. Depending on the time of year, you'll get a chance to catch different species like Cobia, Striped Bass, Red Drum, Spadefish, Black Drum, Tautog, and more. This father and son team will put you on the fish!
Your necessary fishing gear, fishing licenses, and fish cleaning will be provided by the charter. Drinking alcohol and smoking are allowed on board.

Salty Hooker • 28' Grady White (Walkaround) • Max 4 guests (base trip price includes 4 guests)Description: Catch a huge Trophy Striped Bass/Rockfish! We live line eels in the lower Chesapeake Bay for these huge fish. Trophy Stripers weigh from 35-60lbs and measure 40-55+ inches. This is a catch and release season because the fish are well above the 20-31" slot that they must be in to keep. Any fish caught over 44" is eligible for a trophy citation/plaque from Virginia VMRC. We have an enclosed helm and cabin with a heater for cold days. Just bring some warm clothing, snacks, and drinks and you're ready to go!

These guys obviously know what they’re doing. We had a little trouble finding the fish at first but they knew when to move on and we ended up catching a massive 50 inch and 40 pound cobia! Would definitely choose them again.

Captain John and Johnny were amazing!!! It was myself and my two daughters and we had the best time ever, not to mention caught lots of fish, including two huge Cobias. I would highly recommend them to anyone and look forward to booking with them again. They were friendly, very knowledgeable and just really good people! Thank you both for a super time!!!

Top notch crew, quality gear, comfortable boat and fresh meat in the cooler = recipe for success!!! I brought my family out and the crew worked hard to ensure several catches of cobia, a first for most of us. They are very accommodating, easily work with anglers of all skill levels and an overall pleasure to fish with. Thanks for the memorable trip and l look forward to the next trip!

Had such a great evening fishin’ with my parents, jon, and jonny. They were very knowledgeable, kept their boat super clean, and worked very hard overall to make our experience the best. We ended up takin home a 41 inch cobia which was good enough for us. Saw lots of rays, sharks, dolphins and turtles! Thank you both :)
