Bodega Bay is a census-designated place that situates in Sonoma County, California. It is the location where the Russians built their first structure. It is named after Juan Francisco Bodega y Cuadra or Quadra, a Spanish naval officer who discovered the bay and first sailed into the harbor in 1775. The bay became famous for the appearance of the Potter Schoolhouse in the 1936 film The Birds, directed by Alfred Hitchcock. The CDP was also the filming location of the 1963 film Puppet Master.

Bodega Bay also boasts its artists' arts and crafts. The bay is a perfect travel destination for anglers and their families. The place offers trips to museums and other historic sites and hiking trips to the Armstrong Redwoods State Reserve and the Bodega Head. You can also go biking along the bay and do horseback riding activities on ranches. You would not want to miss Bodega Bay's kid-friendly store Candy & Kites or spend a relaxing day at the village's Osmosis Day Spa Sanctuary.

Bodega Bay Fishing: Exciting Angling in the Coastal  Bay

Bodega Bay fishing is open year-round, and because of its connection to the North Pacific Ocean, it is the prime location to cast your fishing line.

Bodega Bay is famous for its marine wildlife such as lingcod, chinook salmon, cabezon, leopard shark, vermilion rockfish, grass rockfish, barred surfperch, calico surfperch, albacore tuna, and California halibut. A fishing trip to the bay should start in Doran Regional Park, where you catch California halibut, rockfish, and crabs. If you are done with whale watching, you can always fish and target rockfish in the Bodega Head. Of course, you wouldn't want to miss fishing in the Bodega Harbour located in the middle of Bodega Bay. The most common catches here are lingcod, chinook salmon, leopard shark, bat eagle ray, black rockfish, calico, and redtail surfperch. Seasoned anglers can book a fishing charter and rent large boats to travel to the North Pacific Ocean and experience deep sea fishing. Fish like halibut, Indo-Pacific sailfish, largemouth bass, roosterfish, pumpkinseed, vermilion rockfish, and spinyhead sculpin are common catches here.

Anglers' best fishing techniques used in Bodega Bay are trolling and mooching. Beginning anglers can also go kayak fishing or visit the Spud Point Marina and Bodega Bay North Jetty for pier and jetty fishing.

Anglers are advised to obtain a fishing license to fish in the waters of California.
